:| maybe you should shut up and stop spouting off now then.

Good on him for finally looking like a player after three seasons. Doesnt change the fact that he was bang average for 80 odd games.

Exactly this tbh. One swallow doesn't make a summer...etc and 2 very good games doesn't make a very good player. Fantastic against Brentford and even better tonight. Let's hope he continues this. Any less than 10 goals this season now would prove nothing.

Come on nick!!

Did he set up two and score and banger? He's still properly shite in my book, but I'll give him a chance to redeem himself.

SC said he needs confidence from regularly playing and considering our new options up from he still got a game so hopefully his confidence is right up and he'll be able to do it all over again on Tuesday.

Long may Mr Blackman reign :D

Now Mr Clarke sir, set about doing the same with HRK.

SCIAG
My thoughts on Blackman:

- Only seems to be good at dribbling and close-range finishing. He's scored some screamers but he's also blasted way too many high into the stands to be called "good at shooting". He can't cross for toffee, he's terrible defensively, his decision making is atrocious, he doesn't have particularly good movement, and for a man of his size he's no threat in the air.
- Consequently, despite a very good start to last season, he doesn't have the skills to play on the wing.
- We have several better strikers and are still looking to sign more. I make him fifth choice (behind Pog, Sa, Cox, and Samuel) even before signings come in.

So I don't think I could be described as someone who rates him.

This is looking silly now. Apart from the "fifth choice striker" comment, I think it was all fair comment at the time. Fair play to Nick, he's come a long way. Clarke must get a great deal of praise though, he's finally found a role that makes the most of his talents, as well as helping him develop new ones (particularly crossing).

He had about 8 good matches at the start of last season but was dreadful for a lot of others, so I find it hard to rag on anyone (and I was one of them) who ruled him out. I suspect you'd find more embarrassing comments if you bumped a thread about Fosu.

Keep making us look like fools, Nick.

Well he reckoned he had nothing to prove, so the joke's on him still.

Frankly, the revelation that there is actually a footballer in there just makes the preceding 3 years that much more of an insult.

I'm going to boo him with a ferocity scaling with his performance level and see how he likes that.

He was really, really good on Friday. When he took on the man for Sa's 3rd I though "oh phucking hell, Blackman's scored one good goal and now he thinks he's Pele."

And then he skinned him and set up the goal.

It was a night of rofls from Ms Ouro at my expense.

It might be churlish to criticise the player after all the good things he did in one game-possibly more in one game (plus Brentford) than in all the time that he has been with us.
The problem I have with wingers is that by nature they tend to be weedy.
Blackman probably had about twenty 50/50 headers with his full back and won none of them.
McCleary is not much better in that aspect nor is Kanu but McCleary and now the rejuvenated Blackman both are bringing so much more that their lack of combatitiveness becomes almost irrelevant.
I suppose all wingers can't be Steve Coppells and we have to accept their limitations.

Well done Nick on an excellent attacking performance on Friday and with Hurtado, John and McCleary challenging for that position it all looks so much healthier for our club's prospects and what a wonderful evening on Friday-IMHO possibly the best we have played for at least 4 years with people leaving the ground with smiles on their faces and with that feeling of not being able to wait for the next game-even old cynics like me.
