Top Flight I'm in the camp that we should let him go....

We have a talented squad and there are others there particularly Orlando Sa who is waiting to fill the void. Blackman is a useless winger and I'd rather see Orlando and Vydra partnered up front.

Blackman has a poor attitude. The way he behaved towards Steve Cotterill was frankly embarrassing on Saturday. That is not the way a Reading player should conduct himself. I say get him out.

That "useless winger" has scored more this season than Sa and the much hyped Vydra combined.

You say Blackman has a poor attitude yet want to see Orlando Sa in the team.

If we had a decent winger that puts crosses into the box then I'm sure both Sa and Vydra would have more goals to their name.
Blackman is good for himself but he is not good for the overall team. Just look at our league position for proof.

Blackman - "bad attitude" that he harness to drive himself on and score goals
Sa - "bad attitude" that leads to bookings and no end result

Maybe Sa could learn how to channel his anger from Blackman?

Can't see how our loss in form should be attributed to Blackman alone. What about McShane being far less assured than early in the season?, Hector's difficulties? The loss of our best central defender to continual injuries? Making a managerial change? The key injuries to Tshibola and Quinn?

Keep hearing this "Put Vydra through and he'll score" yet he's been put through on goal several times in the last few weeks and done diddly squat bar a tap in against Forest to go with his other tap in against Brighton.

If we sign Lafferty/ Lambert I couldn't care less. Need a target man to add a extra dimension to the team, and allow Vydra to flourish.

Blackman only cares about himself.

He was asked to do a job on the right wing against Bristol City, but he lazed about the wing, didn't put any crosses into the box, didn't beat the fullback, didn't bother defending, didn't win any tackles, gave the ball away....

Then McDermott with one eye on the transfer window and a lucrative sale to Sheffield Wednesday took Sa undeservedly off, shifted Blackman to centre forward, brought a proper winger onto the pitch in Garath McCleary who showed Blackman how the job is done. And then because of Blackman's 'team' mates who do know how to play as a team and for each other, Vydra showed true spirit to win the ball, McCleary showed true class in being the provider that a good winger should be and fed Blackman an inch perfect pass and then the selfish Blackman did the rest.

Either we play him as a Centre Forward which will come at Orlando's cost or we get rid of him. Orlando will get us the goals. Don't worry. Best get rid of Blackman now!

bracksroyal10 Assuming we have at least recouped the £1 million paid for him I don't think this is neccesarily a bad thing providing we buy a striker who can fill in the void.

Robert Beric?

he's currently out with a long term injury at ASSE having started to score for them. also, given he played for Rapid and then St. Etienne, doesn't that make him ineligible - 3 clubs in 1 season rule

Definitely didn't score against Hull. He got one against Brighton but can't remember the other. He wasted countless opportunities against Bristol. Needs that bit of confidence to push on - you don't become shit overnight.

No Fixed Abode The stick he got from Reading fans when he wasn't playing well was a joke. You can't blame him if he moves. No love lost here.

Agreed. It's disgusting the fans reacted so negatively to 9 goals in 85 appearances.

Yep - and giving him loads of shit really helped with his confidence........

Royalwaster
Dixeyroyal Not sure what all the fuss is about to be honest.....

Positives
1. He has scored goals for us so far this season (what about the other 2 when he was shite)

Negatives
1. He has 6 months to run on his contract
2. He plays for himself and not the team
3. He sulks like a child when he isn't "the main man"
4. He upsets other players with his attitude (confirmed by other players) and tendency to "shoot at every opportunity"
5. We would see the best of Vydra without him

For all of the reasons above..... SELL SELL SELL

You were probably one of the people who said we should sell Antonio as he's crap ...

He was. Are we meant to keep all players in case they ever come good?

Done well this season but has not been a success really over the time he's been at the club. Partly due to him and partly due to idiot managers constantly fiddling about with team selection as they destroyed any identity the club had.

Last season we were praying someone would buy him and now it looks like they are, would have been better happening last season but no real worries over him going now. Be good to know how much wonga will come our way though as a result (cannot possibly be £8m       - but if it was it would show that Sheff Weds are run by a bunch if idiots)

Overall though it helps with team balance as we have Vydra, Piazon, Blackman and HRK who are all best at playing in the central "off of the main striker" role and having 4 of them mean someone is forever out of position or others are being left out to accommodate.

Good luck to Nick in whatever he decides to do.

Blackman has been absolute gash for nearly all of the time he has been here. a few weeks of fancy dan skills (followed by sulking) doesn't really change much.

Brian MacDermott on 21st December "All those egos, we have to put those aside because they are not useful," McDermott told BBC Sport.
"It is never about an individual, it is all about the team, it is about everybody.

And then people react with surprise when just two days into the new transfer window opens we apparently accept an offer for Blackman.

Sa - "bad attitude" that leads to bookings and no end result

Maybe Sa could learn how to channel his anger from Blackman?

Blackman's bad attitude and anger could well have got him sent off against Bristol City had the officials been a little more on the ball.

Deal not done yet, rumours are that Derby County are also interested.

This. Six weeks of brilliance does not merit the three years of turd he's otherwise served up.

Yet it didn't. Unlike a certain Portuguese centre forward.
