I have decided to renew my decision not to buy a season ticket.

I always find this the best way to watch the Royals and retain some form of sanity............................however this method meant I haven't seen Reading win this season.

I was born over it

I declared myself over it before the universe even began to expand

The universe(s) that existed before the Big Bang?

nihil fit ex nihilo

Introducing Latin into a football forum is as appropriate as considering not renewing. What else would I be doing on a Saturday afternoon?

And how would I know joy, if I had not experienced years of despair?

What about players who can make something from nothing?

EverHopeful yes, who cares. get bored for 90 mins but spend 2 hours in pub beforehand and 2 hours after. just think could have to go shopping with the wife every other Saturday - £375 a bargain over a season. Saves me money without a doubt!

I'm halfway there with this argument but why not just not go to the game and spend six hours in the pub :?:

This is a question that has become increasingly difficult to answer the last three years.

I might get a Season Ticket to the Royal Opera House or something next year for a bit of a change.

I guess "I'm off to the football" when you've bought a season ticket washes with the missus a bit more than "I'm off to the pub for 6 hours"

West Stand Man I have to drive up from Cirencester for each home game. It has become more and more of a chore to do that and sit through the level of dreariness that is being served up at the moment. I will have a serious think about next season and quite possibly switch to buying a ticket when ever I feel like going to a game. The only factor that comes out in favour of ST is that it provides an opportunity for regular father / daughter time and my daughter is moving back to the area this autumn. The economics just don't work out though as I have missed too many games through a lack of will/ desire to put myself through that long drive.

None of the rest of the family want to come any more to games so it is solo travelling for me on match day.
The process starts at about 10-45 and back home by about 7-15 so it is almost an all-day job.
I don't think the local posters on here understand the level of commitment and cost involved by those not on the doorstep as I never did when in early days of going to Elm Park it involved leaving the house at about 2-50 and back home by 5-10 at the latest.
I hate evening games-a long day at work, the drive up and then getting home by just after midnight.

Commitment from the players is surely the very least that we might expect and this season in particular it hasn't felt (despite all those socks being worked off) that most of the players are as committed as many of the fans.

All credit to Haag Royal for his major commitment and that of his Canadian acquaintance who makes a mega commitment.
As other posters have said, it is a drug and to some extent a social club but it would be good to have a bit of excitement as well because the football has been mainly grim these past 3 years-I do hope the stadium announcer gets shot soon ;a bit harsh, just lose your f*****g voice.

I will probably renew.

Got to love it when Dave gets on a roll. Be it from Warburtons or Warings. Communicating in his own style, whilst also looking to put people in their place. And let's face it, if Dave's contacts, within the Stad ticket orifice, state that season tickets are going up. Then who are we to say otherwise?

I've felt as though it's 4 hours of my day wasted when I have so many other things I need to get on with

have felt that way too a couple of times, but then I realised the stuff I had to get on with was dull household chores, or speaking to my wife
and that cheered me up a abit

It's closer to 10 hours of my day, but I'll keep plodding on for now.
