Hoop Blah McDermott sometimes appears to have his favorites though, and he played him on Saturday when you'd have thought he'd have left him out in favour of someone who wants to play for us, so who knows.

I imagine it was more of a farewell for him after 9 years of being at the club.

Was our best player in the second half IMO

Silver Fox WTAF is that shit?

Performance analysis. The enemy of the Robson-Kanu apologist.

Hal scored 30 goals in 136(+91) appearances for the club

a much better record than I assumed

yeah, makes sense, and has McDermott written all over it.
& fair enough, since there was literally nothing on the game.

Yeah maybe that was it.

Not sure it's something I'd support or not though, and not sure it was really worth it in front on a handful of fans away at Blackburn either.

I'll miss Ferdinand for the class and assurance he brought to the defence when fit.

I'll miss Cox for being an Academy product that always gave 100% and scored some decent goals along the way.

I'll miss Hal for never living up to his undoubted quality, and for being another Academy player that came through the ranks and will probably go and make a career in the Premier League.

Tbf if you looked at who else could have been picked who was leaving, this was probably the player who deserved the final game farewell.

We needed some sort of attacking option who had a bit of experience as well.

He'd basically written off the last few games with his change in approach so I don't get why he'd not continuing doing that on Saturday.

Like you say though, it was probably just a sentimental gesture for a player who had done pretty well for him at times in the past. I won't knock him for that as such, it just seems a bit of a nothing thing to do.

Thank you for not linking to some oxf*rd HRK highlights reel which give a wholly false impression of his time at the club.

The second half of what game?
He was usually subbed before the end of games.

Pepe the Horseman Would've liked Cox to have another chance to prove himself and Ferdinand would've been useful backup if he could stay fit. Shame we never got a full season of quality from HRK, the ability is definitely there.

Agree, although there didn't look a whole lot of room for Cox with Rakels and Samuel here. We still really need someone to lead the line and tuck them away.

bracksroyal10 Good luck to HRK, could have been playing in the PL long before he decided to leave us.

Not his biggest fan but a loyal player.

Quite disagree about the loyalty bit, it was only two weeks ago he was saying nothing has been decided about my Reading future yet. Leaving some to believe there was a chance he could be staying, when he knew full well he had no interest in signing a new contract at virtually any price.

Compare that with Gunter, who was begging for a new contract, even before the club had spoken to him, saying how much he loved the club and the area and he wanted to stay. And he is playing in the Euro's this summer too !

HRK was on a ridiculous large contract due to his half a dozen good games before his contract was up last time, that doesn't make him loyal in my book.

It's pretty cool actually, the characteristics are calculated from playing stats

Check out what is says for Vydra if you are still unsure as to how many barrrowloads of salt it needs to be taken with.

What it says for Vydra is actually pretty accurate....

So basically, apart from holding on to possession, passing, defending and shooting, HRK is a decent player.

Did we ever think of trying him in goal?
