Mid Sussex Royal
Barney Bentford v Bristol City and Luton v QPR called off tomorrow due to Covid,

As the latter is due to Covid in the Luton squad, might put our Cup game against them next Saturday at risk.

FA rules I believe are different, if you have 14 fit players you have to play. If they can't play do we get a bye?

imo this should be applicable for league fixtures too.

Could lead to some utterly farcical games. Imagine if a club had all it’s forwards unavailable but was still forced to fulfil a fixture....

Give over. If an illness, stomach bug or flu spreads through a squad, you still need to fulfil fixtures.

Besides, we’ve had no forwards available and had to play anyway

Define fit player. Presume a professional club would have 14 fit players quite easily even if it meant fielding 3 keepers and several from an academy/youth set up.

And at least you’d know which subs would come on.

Happened in the NFL this year. Denver Broncos were forced to play against the New Orleans Saints without any Quarterbacks! But that’s a whole can of worms as other, more fashionable teams, have had their games rescheduled when there has been an outbreak rather than being forced to play.

But this isn't about fit players . It's about players exposed to the virus
The idea of playing games because people aren't actually coughing is dumb in the extreme.

You’d need to be able to field a squad all with very recent negative tests woukdn’t You ?
Calling games off because of possible exposures is effectively cancelling the season.
We have a player isolating because of a possible contact. That player travelled to Swansea. That means potentially our entire first team squad is exposed.
You would hope the isolating player has had a negative test by now but the whole situation could eacalate

I can recall games being called off in the past because an illness/bug has spread right through a club's squad and it's been confirmed that they do not have sufficient fit professional players to be able to fulfil the fixture.

4th now. Might drop to 5th if Bournemouth win at Stoke tonight.

Aside from a draw, what result would we want here?

Do we start dreaming of the top 2 again (Stoke win) or keep consolidating our playoff position (Bournemouth win). Can’t make my mind up

Play offs first and then hope Norwich, Brentford or Bournemouth bottle it

I think since we're only halfway through the season we shouldn't worry about other results right now.

Bournemouth win pushes us down to 5th but with a 4pt gap to 7th and 5 to 8th.

Yep was hoping Wycombe might get something against Boro but otherwise a good day

We’d all have been absolutely delighted with this position 5 or 6 games ago with the injuries we’ve had and that set of fixtures

Bournemouth not good for our automatic promotion hopes but good for our play off hopes.

Yep. Exceeded my expectations and just about the best anyone could realistically hope for. We’re in a great position now, just got to hope we stay relatively injury free.
