Yep the lack of draws has certainly given a negative slant to it because of the defeats but points wise, it is a very decent return.

6 games to go at home, if we can W4 L2 (so roughly in line, with our current record), then we hit 69 points without even taking a point away, Away we are "likely" to go W3 D2 L1 based on our record.

If we do that, we get to 80 pts.

Would be amazed if we only lose 3 more times this season.

Possibly but it would be in line with our season record. Current form would see us W6 L6 and hit 75pts.

We still have to play 6 out of 7 of the current top 8 so it’s gonna be tough.

We’ve played Bournemouth and Brentford twice. So it’s 5 innit?

But on the other hand, by fighting our way into the top 6, rather than limping over the line, that may help the players cope with pressured games (I.e the playoffs if we do get there)

Could be wrong but not sure many players in our squad have promotion experience so difficult to gauge how we’ll deal with pressure

Could also become stressful for Cardiff and Barnsley in particular. At the moment, both are on runs from nowhere and the only kind of run that could get them in the race yet they both still sit outside the top 6 (though Barnsley have that game in hand).

Things could change very quickly either way. For example, Barnsley slip up and only draw v Brum on Saturday - whilst we beat Sheffield and Bournemouth win at Preston then despite being in great form they could be 3 points behing Bournemouth and 5 behind us.

Thin margins for them, more so that us as things stand today.

Well Mick McCarthy has just signed a two year deal with Cardiff, so presumably the wheels will now fall off their challenge.....

This is wonderful news. New contract failure does happen to other clubs right?

Yep - current position of our opponents in order is:

23rd
16th
21st
17th
7th
18th
3rd
8th
13th
4th
1st
19th

So 7 games against teams in the bottom half, only 1 of those above 16th and 5 of the top 8.

Pessimists view, win the games against the bottom half, lose against our rivals - still sees us hit 78pts. If that isn't enough for a PO then so be it, would be an extraordinary end to the season.

Likelihood though is we will lose or draw a game that we shouldn't whilst also winning or drawing games against those teams around us,

I quite like the run into be honest.

Yep - current position of our opponents in order is:

23rd (Wednesday - HOME)
16th (Forest AWAY)
21st (Birmingham - AWAY)
17th (QPR - HOME)

7th -----------------------------------------BARNSLEY

18th (Derby - HOME)

NOT predicting this but should win the five bold games and lose to Barnsley we would be on 72 points with 6 games to go.

I would be STUNNED of we actually won every one of those five games, but "it's in our hands" if we do very well in those "easier" games... even better if we manage to beat Barnsley. It may well be by then that a draw would be OK

To have a run of four relatively easy games before Barnsley is a huge opportunity. Get at least 10 points from them and we will have loads of confidence when that crunch game comes. (This is presuming Barnsley don't hit a sticky patch between now and April 2nd.

Then we get a very good chance of 3 more points before having to go to Watford, for what might well be a free hit.

We clearly need a winning run with Cardiff and Barnsley doing so well, Bournemouth still dangerous.

I'd expect us to beat Wednesday who look doomed.

Forest could be anything but I think we could (not quite the same as should) do as well as Luton there.

I fancy us to win at Birmingham

QPR have been looking dangerous and will probably score at our place which means it's tricky, but by then they might already have settled for mid-table and we nick the points. Don't feel confident about this one but WWWD would be pretty decent.

BARNSLEY?

Will depend a lot on our relative fortunes over the next 4 games, but I wouldn't "EXPECT" us to lose, and a draw might be enough.

Derby worry me a fair bit TBH.

Depends which Derby side are played - they made 8 changes between the Forest draw and the Cardiff thrashing but I agree the next 6 games give us a great chance to get a lot of points on the board. Just depends if we can be good/consistant enough to do so.

Brentford vs Rotherham has been postponed tomorrow and will be played on Tuesday 27th April. This is because of a number of positive COVID 19 tests within the Rotherham squad

Must say that from a scheduling point of view, Rotherham are probably the last team they’d want affected as they have the least number of games played in the league and they’re running out of dates to fit in the games, especially if any games beyond this Saturday are postponed too for them

From our point of view, means we can further close the gap on 2nd though

Hudds 70% possession, but then again Derby had that the other night

Based on what I've seen so far, Cardiff really don't look like a play-off side.

Good hit by Vaulks on the volley, probably too close to the keeper.
