So none of the teams bothered reading the script then. Bugger - we're going to do this the hard way.

Burton and us both need a point for different reasons. both of us lose next week. then play out a boring 0-0 draw on the last day.

I'm finding the Leeds situation quite funny this evening.

Remaining games

25 April

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Huddersfield Town

29 April

Birmingham City v Huddersfield Town
Fulham v Brentford
Ipswich Town v Sheffield Wednesday
Leeds United v Norwich City
Reading v Wigan Athletic

07 May

Burton Albion v Reading
Huddersfield Town v Cardiff City
Sheffield Wednesday v Fulham
Wigan Athletic v Leeds United

1 more point guarantees the play offs. Need 5 more to guarantee a 3rd/4th place finish.

Let's just hope it's not Fulham that Reading end up with.

Villa beating Brum 1-0 Wigan still have an outside chance of surviving.

I don't have an issue with them. Much rather they win the play offs if we don't then any of the northern lot.

Same, I don't mind Fulham at all. In fact I'd be fairly pleased for them if they did win it (rather than us), especially compared with Leeds/Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield.

My preference for winning would be:

Reading
Fulham
Huddersfield
Sheffield Wednesday
Leeds

Leon has a weird thing about Fulham, don't worry about him.

Was it Fulham or Bolton who got us relegated from the premier league on gd? Either way it's us or huddersfield for me.

We would've stayed up if we beat Derby 7-0 instead of 4-0. Football is strange

If we do lose to Wigan and Leeds win, then either a combination of Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday losing or Fulham drawing and Sheffield Wednesday losing would also guarantee a play off birth given they play each other in last match.

You are of course correct normally. Unfortunately, there are a number of permutations where by a team can get to 79pts and miss out.

Assuming the following results - Huddersfield, Sheff Weds and Fulham all win 1 game, Leeds win both - we lose both then final table is:

3. Sheff Wed 81
4. Huddersfield 81
5. Fulham 79
6. Leeds 79
7. Reading 79

Our shocking GD screws us over.

Leeds could easily get 79 pts and miss out too if the 4 clubs above all win one game. Or Sheff Weds miss out based on Leeds picking up 6 pts and Weds picking up 0/1 pts.

If Fulham get to 79 they are in bar a massive GD swing.

In short, lets get the bloody point this weekend so we can relax on the last day.
