Do we reckon the players read this board?

by TBM » 28 Feb 2017 12:00

Former Derby midfielder Robbie Savage says insecurity over his own performances led to him logging on to club message boards using an alias and posting positive comments about himself.

Savage played over 100 games for Derby between 2008 and 2011 and says he would post comments after a poor performance.

“I was the most insecure person ever, to the point where when I signed for Derby and was having a shocker, you know those chat boards? I made up a name, went on them and used to say, ‘Robbie played well today, didn’t he.”

So do we reckon any player reads/posts on this board or does anyone know for certain if they do?!

"My surname is Watson and last year I thought I had a future at RFC but however hard I try in training and however badly Chris Gunter plays I never get a look-in.
The same goes for my new best mate Reece Oxford who is wonder why if he was good enough to get on the bench for Premier League side West Ham he also never gets a game for an upper mid-table Championship club".

The above is the sort of posting that could have been made by the player but has been made by me.

I think the players probably do read the board. They're lying if they say that they don't.

I'm sure some do on occasions. Probably more likely after they win than lose though. Hopefully none read the collective toys out of pram of the Brighton away threads

Starfish made up a spoof news article from a newspaper in Tipperary quoting Shane Long to wind up Snowball.

Ian Harte called us a bunch of kants, and Noel Hunt was supposedly a member.

Gunter clearly doesn't read this board or he would have pulled a Rosenior a long time ago.

I remember Leroy Lita had a rant on BBC Berkshire over the results of The Rock v Con Air poll on anything else once, he wrongly thought The Rock was the better of the two movies despite the lack of Steve Buscemi in the cast.

Mark Reilly allegedly handed in his transfer request after reading the hoax story on here that our new away kit would be brown, there were other reasons but I think this just compounded things.

Glen Little used to be all over Tredders Tips and the Cheltenham Gold Cup thread, he thanked us once on BBC Berkshire local radio coverage of Royal Ascot when he won there once.

Trevor Senior was once asked at a hobnob curry evening who he was, he sad Trevor Senior and the person who asked thought that was his hobnob username  his actual hobnob username was completely different.

Graeme Murty was allegedly logging in under several usernames pushing for his own testimonial, all with the same ip address.
