Simmops So if we lose the next game how long do we think he's got then?

If we win im hoping it gives us a few more games.

I think win or lose they’ll give him until at least Christmas now. Hopefully, the international break will have given him time sort out our defence. I hope that the failure to sign another striker doesn’t come back to haunt us.

I think he's got 5 games max to show an improvement and 2 of those are Fulham and QPR who should smash us on current form.

The owners have itchy trigger fingers and if you look at his current run vs previous managers, it don't look good.

Pauno P16, W2, D7, L6, Pts 13, ppg 0.8
Bowen P20, W5, D5, L10, Pts 20, ppg 1
Gomes P21, W4, D7, L10, Pts 19, ppg 0.9
Clement P28, W6, D8, L14, Pts 26, 0.9

That's right, Pauno's current run is the worst of any of the recent managers to be sacked since we openly said we were too patient with Stam.

Sadly he's a dead man walking without a quick and fairly drastic uplift.

Round and round we go.

Just to even this up a bit. Looking at the last 16 league games for each of the above it works out as:

VP - P16 , W2, D7, L6, Pts 13 - ppg = 0.812
MB - P16, W5, D3, L8, Pts 18 - ppg = 1.125
JG - P16, W3, D5, L8, Pts 14 - ppg = 0.875
PC - P16, W4, D5, L7, Pts 17 - ppg = 1.062

So VP currently has the worst record and the others were all relieved of their duties (his record is not as bad as Jaap Stam’s final 16 games though which returned a massive 9 points and a ppg of 0.562).

Again, Bowen sticks out slightly as the only manager sacked on a point per game or higher.

It's basically McDermott and Stam all over again. Fairly reliable manager you could trust to keep the ship steady sacked in favour of someone with no Championship managerial experience who starts well, then falls apart. Yes, probably better first seasons than Bri / Bowen would achieve, but really don't see us having fallen away as badly or left such poor squad situations behind.

Remember Bowen talking about us being hard to beat, a team the opposition hate playing against? We've gone straight back to a team everyone wants to play. We make the game easy for the opposition. Oh look, a manager who wants to play exciting possession passing football, but just delivers insipid easily beatable defeatist stuff.

I kind of agree - though have to accept there were pretty big concerns about how badly we finished the seasons under Brian and Bowen. Both times the football was every bit as inept bar the odd result (Luton). I don’t think many teams feared playing us at the end of Bowen’s reign despite the talk

It’s tough. VP certainly wasn’t given a strong hand to start the season. Have Meite, Ejaria and Joao in there and it should be a totally different story. In saying that the defensive side has been horrific and that has to fall at the manager’s door

Let’s see how we go in the next few with the stronger squad

Trouble with Hoilett is that there are two letters that could be doubled up:

Hoillet
Hoilett (correct spelling)
Hoillett

I reckon he's been called Toilet everywhere he's played - either in a jokey Cockney rhyming slang kind of way or as he's actually pants, he's probably used to it and assume he simply ignores it. Strange how he changed his first name (David to Junior) but not his surname.

Is it OK to call him crapper, shitter, lavatory, or Armitage shanks instead?

Now I think Armitage Shanks is ideal (esp. as a winger he’s probably also likely to “shank” numerous crosses and shots into the toilets in various stands).

Jack’s could be a bit confusing for Jamie Cureton

With Bowen the club appeared to be stablishing. The problems were all too apparent. Never going to be resolved immediately. Nigel's departure last summer as well one suspects was self protection. Now we lurch downwards seemingly in a poorer and poorer state as a football club.

Soon Sir John will be able to rebuy the club for a nominal sum.

Hoping these signings improve the side enough for us to start picking up points.
