It’s not a bad ground and a decent atmosphere but is a slightly odd look when Arsenal were playing in front of 50k at the Emirates a week before for them to be playing at a non league ground with a frozen pitch

Mr Angry
RoyalBlue
MR.CYNICAL So why can't they play at Stamford bridge?

They are clearly not worthy (enough) in the eyes of those in charge at the mother club.

Not only were their own players quite outspoken about the poor conditions/treatment but Emma Hayes also stated that thy needed to get undersoil heating at Kingston.

AFC Wimbledon used to play at Kingstonian's ground before they moved back to Plough Lane (I recall us playing a pre-season friendly there a number of Years ago....)

Drifting away from the Women's game - that pre-season friendly was one of Antonio's last games for us? I also seem to remember that one of Martin Keown's sons was also in the squad.

Next up for the Royals is Sunday’s (29th)Womens FA Cup 4th round tie away to Leicester. The match is being played at the Pirelli stadium Burton KO 4pm.
With the lack of fixtures it would be nice if the Royals could get through to the 5th round on Sunday February 26th.
WSL fixtures
Sunday February 5th Liverpool away
Sunday March 5th West Ham home

Given that we are again in a fight for WSL survival, it would also be a big psychological boost to beat the team that are one of our key rivals at the lower end of the table.

Jade Moore returns to the Royals on loan from Man United until the end of the WSL season. Terrific signing, we’ve needed a player like Jade all season! Hopefully won’t be our last signing either…

Agreed. It was a great shame when we lost her to Orlando Pride, particularly as COVID then led to the suspension of their games so she never actually appeared for them in a regular season. She will add some more experience and steel to our midfield. I was surprised to see that she is only 5 ft 5", she always struck me as bigger than that.

Really chuffed for Grace. Two keepers that our daughter and I know well from her playing days both saved 3 penalties in trophy penalty shootouts this weekend. A good weekend for the GKU at a time when the authorities are talking about changing the rules yet again to make things even tougher for keepers facing penalties. Apparently dancing and waving on your goal line will be banned but the taker will still be allowed to do stutter run ups!

Also well done to Kelly Chambers who brought Natasha Dowie on in the final minute of stoppage time of extra time clearly specifically to take a penalty. Dowie duly delivered.

Just got in from Burton. A much needed win after a tight game! We started like a train and probably should have been ahead by more when Leicester got their equaliser. After that we really went into our shell. In the 2nd half, we were hanging on for the large part of it…but did look threatening on the counter.

Extra Time gave us a chance to regroup and go again. Instead, instantly gave away a couple of daft free kicks, then concede a scrappy goal with disorganised defending…However, that seemed to spur us on. We then took control, equalised and could have won it before the pens.

Grace was obviously magnificent, only the first kick sent her the wrong way. Overall, we deserved the win…but these lapses in concentration/organisation are going to keep costing us against better teams than Leicester.
