Brain Traysers I know everyone is frothing and all... but we were only a saved penalty away from 2-2 and serious momentum. And it sounds like their third was a bit questionable.

Whether or not that would have been deserved, or that we would have held on for at least a point is a different matter.

Sorry for breaking the chain of consecutive STG posts

Would have seriously papered over the cracks.

Sheffield UTD should have had 5.

We have been clueless

Oh don't get me wrong, exactly this. In the last 10 years we have had periods were we have been extremely lucky (Brians run of wins included plenty of robberies, and last season 3rd was widely considered false), maybe this is the period balancing it out?

In a game of such fine margins, a bit of luck makes a big difference.
At some point our luck will 'turn', which may be too late in a relegation battle...

The longest run with out a league home win is actually 16 matches! 07/02/2009 to 07/11/2009.

As for the second question, I'll need a few more minutes....

Thanks Strap, sounds like there’s still a little way to go on that one then, currently only 7 league games since Barnsley in November

Worst night I can remember

Should have been 6 or 7 to the blades.

I have 3 issues with Stam...
1. Team selection
2. Tactics
3. Motivation

Clement.... not a footballer
VdB..... ?

A team for our times I guess

Pretty sure that's impossible. How many ST holders have we got?

Well, looks like they do not count ST holders in attendance figures unless they actually attend then. Makes sense to do that.

JR We’ve just been victim to the worst bit of sportsmanship ever.

Hound is exactly right.

United just did to us what Kanu did to them all those years ago - and that resulted in a game being replayed.

Disgusting and I cannot believe the lack of uproar by Reading commentators on social media and on here.

Massive kick in the teeth when you’re struggling.

What happened?

Moore and Richards were down injured so Reading played it out.

Rather than playing the ball back as every other team in the world does they smashed it to the box where sharp was obviously unmarked to slot in.

Disgraceful

And why put Barrow on the bench if he’s not fit, can’t believe a player like that would not have come on otherwise.

Highlights are up. Can clearly see we were expecting the ball back to Mannone

Very naughty and hope for karma they stay down now. Cheating northern tw@ts

As a side note, and this is no defence of Stam, this was what finished the game off. Even after the missed pen, we had the momentum and were looking dangerous. It’s not only a lot of gamesmanship but it was the decisive moment of the game

So that doesn't have any reflection on our performance at all does it?
Thanks for that, Jaap.

I don’t understand what you mean by this comment.

Hound is right - we were in a promising spell and this shocking moment finished us off.

Doesn’t excuse the first half performance, but we could have been talking about a great comeback.

Also, why do we have such a bad record with penalties?

No reliable penalty taker since Jimmy Quinn.

The whole ground saw what they were going to do, apart from our players.

It was obvious and our players just weren't switched on.

It's always been done on tickets sold. So either they've changed it, or that number's wrong.

But you're spot on re. your second question.

We're now on a run of 11 home league games on a Saturday form the start of the season without a win.

In season 1955/56 we had a run of 8 home League games on a Saturday without a win, and that was the previous worst. Not looking good is it?!

Sheff Utd did nothing wrong for that 3rd.

I'd have been livid if we'd given the ball back to another team after one of their players stupidly let the ball roll out of play after their player had already got up. It was obvious the ball wasn't going to come back

Thanks, useful stats.

Shane’s % is just below acceptable so only Gylfi who was reliable since JQ and he was only with us for a short time.
