Stephen Gerrard would be an interesting appointment. High profile, would have contacts and you know your team would fight. Obviously a long shot but then Mark McGhee and Alan Pardew had no real management experience and they didn't do too badly here.

Probably some unknown off the continent though...

Longhorn1970
Norfolk Royal Reading Football Club announce that Jaap Stam has left his position as manager of the club with immediate effect.

Majority shareholders, Mr Yongge Dai and Ms Xiu Li Dai, had wanted to give Jaap every opportunity to turn around what has been a difficult and challenging Championship campaign.

Jaap has not wavered in the time, effort and sheer determination he has put in to try to steer the team away from the position we find ourselves in. However, after careful consideration, the decision has been made that a change is now necessary.

We would like to thank Jaap for his hard work and commitment to the club, in particular noting what he achieved in a memorable first season in club management, and we wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavours.

We will now focus on identifying and recruiting the right person to take Reading Football Club forward.

Copy paste ..

No, the club personally asked me to make the announcement.

Will there be a car park demonstration by those few (you know who you are) who thought that 3 points above the relegation places is acceptable at this stage of the season?
I would hope that the owners already have somebody lined up, if not it is terrible management on their part.
Agree with others that this is more than two months too late but, also like others, will get behind whoever is appointed even if it is Sven..

Sebastian the Red
Norfolk Royal Just an idea but wouldn't it be great if Sir Steve came back as caretaker until the end of the season?

If Copps came back as a caretaker I’d attend my first game in 4 years.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Same as that, but I haven't been in closer to 10 years.
Perhaps it's time for the fans to make a positive declaration of intent anyway, regardless of who is in the dugout.
Would anything really send a stronger signal to the owners, officials and the playing staff were the next home game to
be a big attendance, or sell out completely?
All us delinquent Old school Royals coming out of the woodwork.
I'm seriously thinking about driving up from the south coast for it....

An interesting list.
The Cowleys or Warburton appeal to me.
Hierro is an interesting one for the longer term-met him a couple of times in Majorca post Euro 96 and his pedigree ON the pitch is outstanding but our position is too perilous currently for the club to take on anybody inexperienced in English football IMHO.

Word has it that the turning point was the public backing from Joey Van De Berg.

Halle-fucking-luljah! I bet Strap is having a party all on his ownsome.

Way overdue and he should have gone after Burton, or Brum at the latest.

Now out of the bookies picks I'm afraid I would go with Pearson - at least he's got bottle and fight despite his dodginess - or, possibly, Clement.

Of course, Sir Steve and George Dawes would be personal faves as a combined management team to the end of the season.

All these guys have played football for years. It's only these last two seasons they've been told not to attack.

It'll come back to them easy enough.

We only need a win and a draw.

It will be very interesting to see what a new man does with the squad and style. Actually very much looking forward to seeing it

He simply had to go and it should of happened sooner. Find it funny how people on here saying thanks for nothing and it was all shite forgetting we were a shot away from the Prem and this may not happen again for awhile
