I would say that was a half decent point but then you realise their keeper didn't need to make a single save in the second half.

What gets me is that the form is basically the same under both managers

Clement 20 games, 4 wins and 6 draws 18 pts/20 games (0.90 ppg)
Gomes 7 games 1 win and 3 draws 6 pts / 7 games (0.86 ppg)

Smaller numbers with Gomes, sure, but nothing saying we're any better or more robust. Marginally harder to beat.

These numbers need to pick up, otherwise I hear Fleetwood is great this time of year.

Next weekend feels fairly pivotal now. Win at Wednesday and Wigan win at Rotherham, all good. If we lose there (again) and Rotherham win.....we become four points adrift.....

We are 7 games in to his era, he’s still learning the league and the signings need a bit of time to gel. Performances have been encouraging and results will come over time. Very unfair to just revert to stats too, if anything a better comparison is.

Millwall- Clement won that, Gomes lost
Qpr- Clement lost, Gomes drew
Swansea- both lost
Forest- Gomes won, Clement lost
Derby- both lost
Bolton- Clement lost, Gomes drew
Villa- both drew

Points tally- Clement: 4, Gomes: 6
Most of these were games against teams in the top half. Now can we stop this ridiculous average points per game for the love of god

Not overly concerned re. Clement. He's gone and not coming back. Decision was made, time to move on. Anyway...
Can't say enough about back 4 today keeping a clean sheet. Abraham is a real handful. Villa are in top 3 scoring teams in the league and you could see why.
The 5 signings all started, they settled in and all played pretty well, imo, which is encouraging.
Thought we might nick it at the end, but overall it's a good point and clean sheet for me today against a decent side who ask questions/cause problems.

100% deliberate and we lost all direction up front afterward. Love the look of Olivera

You`ll have to go a long way to see a worse refereeing performance than that, shocking.

Ouch!

I struggle to see that as deliberate though, you'd have to be phenomenally in control and nasty to see the chance, decide to do it and succeed at it in those milliseconds between lunging for the ball and being past him already.

Maybe other shots and full speed tell a different story.

Hope Oliveira's ok.

Quick summary:

Martinez is excellent, looks a very good keeper

Defence played well, Moore and Miazga look a strong partnership

Midfield a bit samey. All tidy players who don’t create as much as they should

Wingers didn’t play too well. Oliveira looks tidy but a bit off the pace. Meite was back to looking like a pub footballer who could head the ball

Villa a good side. Would err on the point gained

Referee should be ashamed of himself and I hope he is punished.

But we had looked seriously under pressure before that and the sub added some solidity settled things down abit and we had more of a platform from there to come back into it. Which we did. Good decision

Anyone got a full speed version? From experience it is very easy to make sure your foot doesn't land on somebodies face.

I'm with our Japanese friend. It worked quite well in the end.
