3points don't get it having signed Morrison. Can't believe any of Moore, Morrison or Miazga will be happy being 3rd choice

Who says Gomes isn't going to go 3 at the back this season? I wouldn't be against that to be honest. McIntyre and Blackett as back up CB's.

Me. I actually like 3 at the back as a system, but I look at our players and it just doesn't work IMO.

The three CBs bit is fine. But IMO it requires two solid midfielders, we have one. Although that's the same as 4-5-1.

It means wing backs - that's great, but then no wide forwards which deprives us of Meite and Barrow's best positions, our two best attackers.

Plus you need a good striker pair... bit better here I guess with Meite & Baldock / Nova & Loader for example, but not ideal.

This a million times. It's not feasible and doesn't play to our strengths.

This looks decent if you ask me, assuming Ovie comes back too:

----------------------Virginia--------------------------
---------Moore----Miazga----Morrison---------
Yiadom-----------------------------------------Obita
----------------Ejaria----Rinomhota----------------
------------------------Swift-----------------------------
------------Novakovich--Meite---------------------

Yeah this was my thought too. Have Liam Moore push forward a little bit into the CDM role if necessary in games.

Falls apart when you look at the bench and is half the team

-----------------Virginia
Yiadom--Moore---Miazga--Obita
------Rinomhota----Ejaria
Meite------------Swift---------Barrow
---------------Novakovich

Would be.

Who is to say we won't sign more players to fit the system? Not beyond possibility.

Its an option if not my first choice.

Baldock and Meite/Nova could be a good front 2. But as stated, that is then leaving out our two most effective forwards from last season. Adam in for Ejaria could also work, but does leave us looking a little leaden

Yeah I think this has to be the basis of the team. I like that side. Blackett in for Obita until he proves he can play at the standard again, which could well be 6 months.

True. But it involves a vast change in formation that relegates Barrow to the bench, moves Meite out of his best position and runs the relationship the 2 of them have built up. Even if you make the 2 up front Meite and Barrow it causes problems. It results in Novakovich, Loader and Olise fighting to get the games they frankly deserve.

Admittedly I'm still stuck in the "Obita was great" mindset. It's more hopeful than realistic.

it concerns me that he didn't play a minute in Spain. I'd have thought he would have got at least a 30 mins in the 'b' side somewhere

really hope he does come back though, as I rated him very highly and seems a top chap all round really

I would've thought they were totally wrapping him up in cotton wool and went there to train and be part of the first team squad again. I would be concerned if he didn't get minutes against Posh or Chelsea.

I'd swap Barrow in for Nova. The further forward the better for Barrow. You don't want him having to track back very much

I can't see how he will really. We need to be trying out the first team in these 2 games

20-45 vs Posh seems reasonable, plus maybe 10-20 vs Chelsea.

If he's not going to be close to playing not much point taking him to Spain at all. Blackett has had plenty of play time and if Miazga does sign there's no integration for our first choice defence to do.

Don't think the Miazga thing was genuine.
If the leak was Adam and Mizga were both signing this morning then that was wrong as Adam signed last night.
If Miazga was due to sign this morning, well that's not happened.
The picture in the Oracle could have been months ago and if you sign for a new club is your first priority to go and buy generic clothing in a mid range shopping centre ?
I reckon Friday has been had....

Picture was within the last month or so as he's in front of a hoarding that only went up after Cafe Rouge closed in mid June, long after his loan finished. Doesn't mean anything concrete in terms of him coming back this week, mind.

PTR claiming Miazga done too.

He was right with Virginia and wrong with Oliveira, although that seems to have been done in principle but not quite finalised which would make him basically right.

Hound Appaz spotted in Reading again today

Twice in a couple of weeks....

Assuming he isn’t here for the culture or the sights

I've just googled Appaz to see which club he currently plays for....

And that is what CF reckons they are going to do in his latest 'exclusive'
