Baldock's always looks reasonable to me. The main issue with him was the stupid recurring injuries, inevitably just as we needed him

Nameless
Notts Royal Personally would prefer us to give Nova a decent run of games there

Agreed that I would want Nova to be given the chance

Yep, would imagine Nova isn't the biggest fan of this signing. :|

2 world wars, 1 world cup Aluko 2.0. Transfer fee is ludicrous if true.

It's like groundhog day being a supporter sometimes.

What do you base this on? Just because it's an Expensive (by Reading's standards) transfer?

Have you seen him play?

Pros:

Good first touch
two footed
decent goal scoring record at this level
Can play as a target man/focal point

The only negative I've been able to find is that he sometimes struggles to get motivated but with a Portuguese manager and someone in José who seems to be a very good man-manager I suggest this won't really be an issue.

Danny Nedelko ... has got some skills to pay some bills.

Useful if FFP is still tight.

Not a chance in hell we are paying £7m up top for him, I`m truly astounded our deluded fans believe this. just give me a break.

Never even heard of him tbh.

But my point stands.

Aluko is more an outlier and not a particularly useful metric.
Fans of any club could try to compare any new signing with their worst previous signing and try to draw conclusions.
There's a different hierarchy here now too, who may have a better eye for talent, doing the financials, etc.
.
That said, am I surprised we're spending this amount on Joao, given what we've been led to believe re. financials, and having not (yet) sold anyone of note? I'd be less than honest if I said I wasn't. Though of course, I'm hoping it's a great signing, and it may well be.

Isn’t version 2.0 usually an upgraded version of 1.0 ? Some enhanced functionality, defects fixed etc etc

I think it’d need a total rewrite rather than some upgraded functionality tbh

Argh...

I'm not going to take this groundhog day 'joke' too far or I'll end up ruining the thread, which to be I do even when I'm trying to be serious (!).

Someone a few pages back mentioned groundhog day so I copied an pasted. I've never heard of the guy, have no idea what the original poster meant by Aluko 2.0 either. No-one can be as big a flop as Aluko was surely.

I just don't see him as a good lone striker leading the line. His good performances were as one of the wide forwards in a 4-3-3 under Clement. We play differently now.

Good player, wrong team. Play 4-4-2 with him alongside Joao or Nova and I'm sure he'd be fine... not that we have the wingers for it...
