Distribution- mixed. Aim for Joao and Meite. Short should be distributed to Full backs.

Restrict the full backs. We have learned well enough now that our CBs are not capable enough to allow the opposition so much time and space on the flanks.

Pele and Rinomhota to act as both defensive blocks and possession recyclers. Get Andy up for second balls and keep Pele back to cover as a 3rd CB to close down attackers.

Swift and Ejaria to roam, cover wide spaces, link midfield to attack.

Strikers to wear down defenders. Joao to play with back to goal, look to link up play and hold the ball. Meite as a pressing forward. Have him run all day, dont allow quick, short GK distribution.

On defence 2 men to close down player on ball, one from behind one from in front. Other players to cover passing routes, not space. CBs to cover, not close down. Keep a high defensive line. Play for offside. Full backs to cover wide when ball is on opposite flank. Far sided CB to cover back post, Pele to cover centrally, Rinomhota to close down with near sided CB and Full back. Swift and Ejaria on edge of box to win second ball.

When we have the ball I suggest a 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 formation. That way we only have to do a short pass forwards each time and the ball goes up the pitch directly.

UNSTOPPABLE.

When we don't have the ball I suggest a 10-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 formation, everyone on the goal line, some hanging from the crossbar.

IMPENETRABLE.

I suggest forming a ring of 9 around the best dribbler in the team and moving up the pitch as if one unit then belt the ball over the bar from 3 foot out as would be the Reading way

I often wonder why that sort of thing is never employed. Or lifting people up for high headers/kicks like in rugby.

If so then :-D if they started from the Reading penalty box & all the opposing defenders were quick enough running up towards our goal & won a free kick for offside, in a potentially goal-scoring-from-dead-ball position...!

Haha... with the new rules probably not as not a receiving player, they'd all shuffle forward.

And whlist impeding isn't allowed, it may be in certain circumstances, like if there's a ball close (like shielding a ball going out for a GK) so if the ring of players is turned inward to face the player and are on the verge of receiving a pass they can shield who they like...

PS Those who don't realise the joke was a response to another joke and is all just a bit of light hearted chatter and don't like it can **** off.

Well, way off topic as I think it would be a project quite beyond me, but getting Pușcaș / Meite integrated with that midfield would keep opposition teams a bit busier, and less intent to pitch camp around our penalty spot.
