2 world wars, 1 world cup Chill.

Way more people have had this virus than we think. YES

We will enter a peak soon and things will slow. YES

Several treatments are already showing promise and vaccines have been produced. NO, testing is only just starting

We will forget about this like we forgot about the other SARS and Ebola etc. NO

Quit stressing about the damned virus. YES, will Carrie be alive at the end of this series of Homeland?

windermereROYAL I`m going to be a wreck by the time this is over, no sport, no pubs, no holidays. `I`ll be climbing up the walls this time next week.

I already am.

It is weird. I can imagine mental health issues and suicides adding to the toll.

I spent 24 days in RAF nick when I was about 21 (28, 4 off for good behaviour)
but I got interactions with the MPs, went out on work duties etc. It wasn't as bad
as this, and the situation medium-term looked rosy.

When they let me out to shop I was euphoric for a couple of hours. I showered
and dressed smart-casual rather than my usual sporting crap gear. I wanted to
be "out there", tell myself I was fully alive.

I'm not sure how this oldie/vulnerable lockdown will be phrased, but there is NO way
I could stay indoors for 4-8-12 weeks.

I'm now entering my 3rd week of self isolation having only left the house 3 times to go to shops to get food. I feel like there is a good chance I'm going to be left with some form of PTSD and the fear of the next virus coming.

Yes they are being tested (already started) but they have obviously been produced in order to be tested.

There was an interview a week with a woman in the States who had volunteered to be tested with a Vaccine and had had the injection....

I'm not sure we forgot about the other illnesses. They didn't really reach us so their impact didn't effect us.

If we forget about this then we deserve the next pandemic that comes our way and could be even more deadly.

Sister works for Klaxo Smith Klein and says standards require 18 months minimum for testing on humans. Fast tracking something like this has a bit of a risk attached. Virus would have burnt itself out by then.

Fukk taking an experimental vaccine before its been through animal safety trials

Would be typical if a rushed vaccine gives loads of people Guillain-Barre Syndrome...…. or actually exacerbates the infection like the RSV vaccine a few decades ago

The correct phrasing is a "woman in the States who had volunteered to be tested with a Vaccine and had had an injection"

It's to early to use "the"

Those comparing this to SARS.

Yesterday in one day, in Italy alone, more people died
than died worldwide in the whole nine months of SARS.

Does anyone have new-cases data for today (meaning yesterday)

Normally at 17:00 they announce cases and deaths but have NOT announced cases (Gov.UK)

The only reference I've found is SKY saying "Now over 5,000 .."

This looks like they may be suppressing this bit of news, and here's a possible reason

Daily ----------- Total
RISE

0,407 ----------- 1,950
0, 676 ----------- 2,626
0,643 ----------- 3,269
0,714 ----------- 3,983
1,018 ----------- 5,000

If the total official cases is just 5,001 that's a serious jump
(over 1,000) in one day.

"Over 5,000" could mean 5,001 or 6,000, or even worse!

This is the first day the new-cases number hasn't been released ,I think.

San Marino, population 32,000 (thirty-two thousand)
has already had 20 deaths.

Forget confirmed cases that is one death in
every 1,600 people, tested or not.

If the UK (66 Million pop) was on the same rate
we would have recorded 41,250 deaths already

We are going to be at Italy’s numbers in a couple of weeks. Why the hell are garden centres still open and why the hell are elderly people going to them? Close them down.
The message needs to be hammered home.

I understand why supermarkets remain open but much much more should be done on home deliveries. Get the army in to help.

Horrible times ahead.

Of course but they can do deliveries and wear PPE. They can drop off at the front door and have no contact with the public. There are ways and means. This should have addressed by now. Fit and young soldiers are low risk. We need their support at a time like this.

We are still some way behind our near continent neighbours with a less than 2% mortality rate, I believe Italy is something like 6%, Germany is remarkably low considering the amount of cases.
We have every right to be concerned but while we have a relatively low number of cases at the moment people are of the mindset it won`t happen to them, checkout queues at the supermarkets are still crammed with no social spacing.
In conclusion the public are that uneducated b*stards until it happens to them or their families,

I`m prepared to isolate for as long as it takes no matter how uncomfortable, just hope some prick doesn`t infect me when I go shopping.
