Franchise FC Rather irrationally it really annoys me when it's quoted that the point at Leicester got us promoted. Not true as a defeat would still have seen us promoted given Leeds failure to beat Stoke at home and Watford losing at home to Millwall

Quite. Doyle’s goal didn’t make any difference - it was Asaba’s goal for Millwall that sealed our promotion.

For a moment there you had me going.I remember standing next to this old dear on the West Bank at Elm Park. She hated Asaba with a vengeance.Didnt he and John Mackie have a fight in the tunnel when Asaba was with Sheffield Utd ? Now John Mackie was a player.Apparently he got more money on his fruit and veg stall than he did playing for us.

Don’t think it was so much a fight as an exchange of words in which Mackie said one particular word that he shouldn’t have.

Snowflake Royal
Zip McIntyre was unlucky to not get a new contract. He did ok. We

iirc McIntyre was diabolical played upfront, but when he moved back a bit actually did quite well.

He is probably the third name on my personal worst ever XI, partly for not being the type of striker who scores goals and partly for his performance against Walsall in Cardiff, when he clearly couldn't give a flying oxf*rd about what was going on.

Federici in any game that mattered

Joseph Mills
Nickey Shorey on loan
Martin Keown
Darren O'dea

McIntyre
Matejovski
Guthrie
Piazon

Drenthe
Chris Martin

Of all of those, Drenthe is probably the worst player ever to have played for us.

Yeah Chis Martin was awful, but didn’t he have a crhon s problem ? Not for the first time somebody at the club didn’t do their due diligence ?

And it's got nothing to do with due diligence. You can be fine with colitis and then you can have a flare up which isn't predictable.

For an actual side that played together I'd go with 1982-83 team, simply because we had the top scorer in the entire football league (Kerry Dixon) and still got relegated. We'd have been down at Christmas without his goals.

No need for omafication, it might be your opinion mate and I'm sure it's not unfounded, but I even remember him being one of the better players in a poor team at least for quite a portion of a season. I even bought him a drink in Nue Valbonnes I was so impressed with his form, the night Madejski called a bunch of us c*nts and Barry Hunter slapped us in the face. Happy days.

It's entirely possible a short patch of good form is all I'm remembering and was against the grain, who knows.
