One of those signings where you thought "How on earth did we get him?"
A classy right-back who I remember in particular in that famous 0-0 FA Cup game at Maine Road , returning to his old club and having a blinder, as they all did.

Not so good in the replay, but little did we know that we were up against the best side of the late 60s that went on to be Div 1 champs and FA Cup winners.
It's been a bad year so far for the old-timers.

Very sorry to hear this. He was outstanding in his day.
You will notice that I had him at right back in the best X1 in your lifetime (excluding 106) thread.
Definitely the best right back I have seen at Reading. Back in that era we had Colin Meldrum at left back, who was also outstanding.

Again I pose the same question about Colin Meldrum.
How on earth did we get him?
A player far too good for the level we were at.

Meldrum was a relatively untried 20/21 year old for whom we paid Div 3 rivals Watford a small fee.

Bacuzzi astonishingly came from Div 1 Man C on a free and also astonishingly was fit and motivated.
Though Shrewsbury did break his leg in an infamous match.

Sad to hear it, RIP.

As I say it's nice for those younger fans like me who have no idea about these older players. Sad news, but lovely to read about our past players like this, thank you all.

Thoughts and respect to his family.
