Old Man Andrews That's Liam Moore binned for good then. Such a shame Swift wasn't also dropped for his awful displays recently and an even bigger shame to see him captaining the team. Utter shambles.

He’s a very odd choice as captain.

The appointments of Messrs Murty and McAnuff as Captain were questioned on here.

Not my personal choice but there you go.

But both of those guys were 100% committed to the cause and would run through walls for the club. Will Swift run through a wall? I doubt it. More likely to run away from it.

A dying breed and not just at Reading. Sad but just like the Curl of the Burl it's just the way of the world.

Sutekh Lose this one and MB is going to get slated again after that starting XI

Yep.

Don't like it all myself.

Drops Olise who has been one of the better players since restart and leaves in Ejaria and Swift who've underperformed.

Throws organisation out the window in defence for wholesale changes and players out of position. Potentially playing our best midfielder at RB and what the hell is the point of Araruna then? Brings in Blackett who seems to have made it clear he wants out.

And Swift is one of the quieter and softer members if the team as captain. Surely Morrison is the obvious choice.

I don't like it at all. But if it gets us the points then good job. It feels a bit like Bowen throwing his hands in the air and "saying oh oxf*rd off then, see how you like this"

Lot of fixtures to play in a short time window. Rotating the squad makes sense. An opportunity for some to stake a claim for a new contract.

Any idea what the formation is? Not sure whether it’s a 3-5-2 or a 4-2-3-1? If the latter, one of the centre backs is playing out of position, presumably Osho? But makes for a stronger central midfield

Good he’s changed it up. But why drop Richards & Olise?

Time will tell but we must get something from this game. Otherwise we are being dragged into a relegation battle. Derby now level on points with Cardiff. They were below us in the table in New Years Day. We looked well set back then but it’s proven to be another false dawn.

Oh agree with that sort of character being a dying breed but we have someone in the side who I'd want in a battle with me in Michael Morrison, he is a highly experienced and vocal player with experience of being a captain.

The whole thing just stinks of Bowen knowing Swift is horribly out of form and is throwing him the armband in a desperate attempt to make him give a shit.

Presumably Richards is injured?

Olise can only be one of three things. He's being rested to avoid wearing him out, he's being scapegoated for his more senior colleagues, or he's being punished for his apparent reaction to being subbed.

Beginning to think we got Bebe'd on Araruna.

Araruna was clearly a signing by a director of sporting operations who never showed up.

So now we have no real use for the player.

I don't want to be hyper critical, but inside 2 minutes we've had a communication issue between McIntyre and Blackett, and Osho failed to clear or sheppard out the ball...

And a dreadful pass from Osho.
