Notts Royal Big shame this - liked the look of him at rb

So at present, we have no back up rb or lb!

Sigh.

Araruna and Watson.

Isn’t Araruna a midfielder & the same Watson who hasn’t been anywhere near the first team in years? Personally I wouldn’t call them backups

Watson is injury prone and done next to nothing out on loan at a lower level. Bowen clearly doesn’t rate Aruruna who has barely featured.

But they do exist in the squad.

Watson was very promising until his injury. He could recover. Maybe.

Adding to that, Osho had probably done even less out on loan than Watson.

He’s 18 months younger than Watson and still 21 albeit only just so unsurprising he’s done less than Watson on loan.

Araruna can play right back too but he’s hardly played since he joined and was fourth choice behind Yids, Gunter and Osho. So it doesn’t suggest Bowen is keen on him. As for Watson he’s been nowhere near the first team for a couple of years.

Hound Araruna did at least appear in squads at the end of the season

Obvs wouldn’t be surprised if he was moved on but now he is more used to the physicality he may get another go

May be one to file alongside Paolo Hurtado and Sandro Weiser

Guess we can see what he’s like during pre season, as long as he isn’t played on the wing again, was an awful call by Bowen that one

Araruna has only been here since Jan. I would think the plan was never to use him too much this season but with an eye on him being "ready" for next.

Ok, well if you want, but they're both in the first team squad and that's basically like saying

We've got no strikers, except the strikers we've got but I've decided not to include those ones.

Disappointing to lose Osho.

Not sure to what extent Araruna and Watson are credible options. They’ve both looked promising but haven’t really convinced the men in charge.

Could maybe see Holmes taking the same CB->RB route that Osho took. He has a good touch but not the same athleticism.

Tbf, I don't think that Osho was that close to the first team either, until it was clear that Yiadom was going to miss the rest of the season and Gunter wouldn't be here next year.

Shame to lose him, would have preferred if we had kept him, I don’t know the details but he didn’t play that often last season and if we can’t guarantee him much game time next season I can see why he would want to go to a club where he will play most or all of the time

I think if he finds the right club he will go onto be a decent player and as was said earlier in time a club may make a few quid in him

That type of thinking isn't exactly rare on here is it?

Physically I can’t see Holmes as a right back. HE’s a very big guy and cannot imagine him bombing up and down the wing. He does have a decent touch and is one of a few that have moved from playing in midfield to defence.
On the other side Tom Mc is more than capable of playing at left back.

I have only seen Aruna a couple of times, however he is vertically challenged and teams will target his lack of physicality if he plays at RB.Playing in midfield he can however see a pass and is tidy on the ball.

Came as a defensive midfielder. Having seen him play. Makes you wonder whose decision it was.

Mid Sussex Royal He'll get a few games in a league one club, who else will sign him?

He's taken a huge risk in the current climate and is being poorly advised, probably got the same agent as Loader

While I find it very disappointing we let his contract run down, I agree. With no gate money since March and even less TV money in the lower leagues, this is a time to be grateful you're at a 2nd tier club that has owners with deep pockets. Bite the bullet, take what's on offer and see how things look next summer.

Rino can, and has played RB for us too.

So that leaves

Yiadom, Watson, Rino, Araruna

Given our shortage in midfield (we have lost three of our six midfielders) I’m not sure we can consider Rino a right back option.

Rino should be starting every game in midfield.

He's not a right back.

Filling in in an emergency doesn't make you a genuine option.

Or do people think we didn't need a back up keeper for Mikhailov because Quinn once went in goal and did ok?
