Sutekh Sure I heard Tim mention something in his commentary yesterday about an offer of a new 4 year deal coming the way of Omar Richards ... anyone heard more?

I think it was a we need to rather than a we are.

Nope. Dellor was saying a four year deal was under ongoing negotiation with Richards.

Well ok then. I try and drown the moron out.

Errr... Joao's goals to minutes is less than a goal every 90 minutes.

7 starts, 1 sub appearance - 8 goals.

According to whoscored we have had the least amount of possession in the oppositions third (22%) and have had the least avg shots per game (7), next lowest Wycombe (8.5).

.... and we're top of the league by 7 clear points. Love it.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned anywhere but Meite scoring after 7 seconds was the fastest goal Reading have ever scored.

Previous fastest was Kebe v WBA (9 secs) and before that Mark White v York (12 secs)

Thought I would have a look at how clubs who were top after 8 games have fared over the past 10 seasons:-

3 have gone on to be automatically promoted
5 ended up in a PO position
1 finished 7-12
1 finished lower half (Forest)

As first poster on bftg thread said, we do look the real deal, but better than 106, I think not.

Keep this up much longer and 05/06 or 20/21 line up could get interesting. Never thought I'd think there'd be a chance of many 106ers being displaced from a greatest XI

I may have rose tinted glasses for the 106ers, but I still don't think anyone from this team gets ahead of them.

The only one I can really think of is Olise would probably get in ahead of someone like Convey, but they're 2 totally different players. I guess the Joao for Kitson argument could be made, but Kitson is one of my favourite ever Reading players. Joao is the first player to play for us who reminds me of Kitson though.

That team sets up so differently to this one it is almost an impossible argument.

Far too early for that kind of talk imo. Lets reevaluate that at Christmas. Should we be 20 points clear at the top and on course for 107 points then fair enough.

Don't want to get carried away but I think 7 points is quite possible from the next 3. We'll slip up at home at some point I think. We look like an easier side to play against when we are at home.

That would give us 29 points from 11 matches. If we do get 7 points then we'll only need:

1.7 PPG (playoff form) to get 88-89 points which is probably enough for automatic promotion.

1.6 PPG (probably 6th place form), would still put us on 85 points. Could be enough for 2nd place this year.

1.3 PPG would get us 75 points and very likely 6th place. Basically we could still be bang average after the next international break and still finish in the playoffs.

2.22 PPG would break the 106 record for anyone curious.

Let's hope we don't underestimate Coventry as they are capable of springing a surprise on us. Swansea dropped points there.

Preston are a side we have the wood on at the moment. No mugs but they're beatable if we play to our current levels.

Stoke looks tough. They are a better side this season and our record v them isn't great. Likeliest game on paper where we'll drop points.

All games will be tough, we all know that. Like the team just forget about all but the next game. That said Reading’s next 6 games are going to be about as hard as it gets.

The 106 team from 04/05 were a one off. We will never ever be better them then and those players will be legends forever

I was thinking about Premiership sides sniffing round
Olise, Ejaria, Rafael, Swift but surely Joao (if he continues
this form) would be perfect for a lower half Prem side in
need of a target man?

But he is worth a LOT to us and even 20 Million would probably
not tempt us to sell, because: quote

"The player wanted to go and Wednesday made a sizeable profit on the Portugal international, pocketing a club-record £5m transfer fee (a figure that could rise to as much as £7m with add-ons). They also inserted a 20 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal."

So his cost is already probably approaching the 7 Million and of a 20 Million sale we'd lose another 4M, so a profit of 9M?

Would make no sense, especially if we are still top two.
