First half today was a very good sign for the rest of the season
I thought we looked really up for it for a change and there was a determination to keep them out at whatever cost and it was working well, with Moore very much to the fore.

Think we played pretty much all of the good football in the first half, with plenty of crisp passing and good movement off the ball.

A win today and we would have had a real spring in the step for the next few games.
As it is I hope they’ll bounce back and show that same determination again.

At our best I think we can give any play off team a good game.
But we can’t keep giving things away and not taking chances.

Season has been a big step forward. Squad though is really Bowen’s and he got the club on the forward foot last season. VP has got the players to step up further and show more consistency and consequently they’ve delivered more in line with the talent in the squad. Next stage will be for VP to learn how to use substitutes and stop tinkering about with team selections unnecessarily.

Going to be a big summer where VP has to make the right calls in the transfer market - don’t think he’s actually made any signings other than a couple of loans so far so that’s going to be interesting though the links we had late on in January (eg Rossi) seemed fairly exciting. Reading need to bring in 3/4 extra players and replace Richards (and any other first teamers who leave) while trying to extend Olise and McIntyre’s contracts. Don’t think any of the current loans will be staying permanently.

Also have to establish that much vaunted plan B or finally find a Joao like striker somewhere.

The article in the Mail suggests this is largely an error by the EFL not recognising that clubs have legally got an extended period to submit accounts due to COVID but EFL rules have not been adjusted in line.

No way of knowing, ‘transfer embargo’ could mean lots of things.
If it’s just the EFL rules being misapplied, which it obviously is for some of the clubs, it means nothing.
If we genuinely have been hit by a full on ban on expenditure then there is every chance a points deduction might follow as we must have breached something quite badly.
I thought that FFP had been amended to be a 4 year period so it would be quite odd to start hammering clubs at this point, and given we will have made huge steps towards controlling our costs again you would wonder why we would be punished.
Big thing in our favour is we lose some big wages off the payroll this summer so hopefully that will give us more room to manoeuvre

Think we'd fall foul of the 4th year being a big loss we'd hoped to get rid of and a dramatic drop in income, from Covid, that counters the savings we managed.

If we fall foul. I expect this is blown out of proportion, but we've been in enough trouble recently that I wouldn't just write our name off as a simple accounting period issue like some are claiming.
