Pepe the Horseman Bowen could be leaving after all, according to ya man Eddie.
We can confirm that Mark Bowen has departed Reading Football Club
Having stepped away from his position as manager a few days ago, Mark was offered a new role within the Royals’ restructure, but after careful consideration he has chosen to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.

Just seen the confirmation by the club on Twitter.
Might I add I find Reading fans on Twitter to be a bunch of negative tossers.

Fans are fully justified to react negatively to this. Bowen has been treated very poorly. We have yet another very odd managerial appointment to look forward to.

Has he? His record was average, the timing is pretty poor but that's about it. The worst thing about it was he couldn't seem to get the team going post-lockdown, some absolutely gutless performances with the great win at Luton amongst the mix.
Fans very quickly laying into the Chinese owners who have invested a lot of money into the new training facilities, offer amongst the lowest tickets in the division, offered free away travel to the furthest stadiums and offered iFollow for free to ST holders. They want to invest heavily to get us up, these are the owners that before FFP most fans would be delighted to have but because of FFP, which is a shit system that will never work while parachute payments exist, people think we're a financial mess.
Look, I get the way this whole managerial change has happened is a mess but Bowen is being played up as having achieved far more than he did which I'm finding quite ridiculous, I think it's fair to say it was wrong to do it so close to the season's start but that's about it.

Fans wanted him gone for most of he’s time as manager, now he’s gone there upset. Get a grip. It might work, it might not. Owners are trying to make it work (right way or wrong way)
Sheffield Wednesday defender gets sent off for punching the ball off the line first game of the season then reading prob win that game and get a bit of confidence. They didn’t and then struggled. Just need a bit of luck with any manager in charge and see where that takes us.

Looking forward to all those saying the changed were fine because Bowen was in the loop and happy to be DoF eating some pie.
Treated disgracefully.

Bowen’s League record of 13 wins, 13 losses and 9 draws is a marked improvement on what Stam (second season), Clement and Gomes achieved. I can guarantee we will have some muppets applauding the new appointment who will want him sacked if we start badly.

Old Man Andrews Shambles.
The decision to remove Bowen aside, the communication and overall way the whole thing has been handled is amateurish and disgraceful.

It’s been an absolute shambles. Too quick to offer him the perm contract & treating him like shit when he kept us up is a disgrace. Can’t imagine we are going to fare much better this season & we could see all his work undone pretty quickly.
Good on Bowen for leaving us...he’ll be much better off out this basket case of a club. Bumpy times ahead guys, buckle up
