Jamal Lowe - Wigan perm
Reiss nelson - arsenal loan
Tom huddlestone - free (see John o Shea, Adam signing)
Adam Armstrong- Blackburn perm
Young LB from prem to back up Richards.

Need some out the door if we going to get a load in again otherwise over inflated squad again.
McNulty, baldock, Walker need to be moved on

Still think we need to blend young and hungry with experience. First and foremost a back up for Richards is essential. I would go with an older head rather than a younger player for cover there. I think either Brunt or Downing could still ping a ball, similar to how Ian Harte made a difference for us.

1) Chris Brunt or Stewart Downing (LB / LW)
2) Sheyi Ojo (RW)
3) Pedro Mendes (ST)
4) Marcus Maddison (LW)
5) Rob Dickie (CB)
6) Andrija Živković (RW)

Would love for us to go for any of Miloš Deletić, Daniele Verde, Nenad Krstičić, Marko Livaja, or Oliveira at AEK but it won’t happen!

Must offload Aluko, Baldock, Walker

Pepe the Horseman Anyway, talking of realistic signings from the Serbian Under 20 World Cup winning squad... Andrija Živković has just been released by Benfica, and is very keen to play in the Championship.

Ya man Eddie now confirming we're in for him. lol.

Ya man Eddie is risking his reputation by stating that. Im sure we are considering him as much as Sunderland were considering Zlatan.

Would say it's closer to Wolves signing Ruben Neves or Cardiff signing Craig Bellamy or Brighton signing Vicente.

Neves is a fair comparison. The other 2 are nowhere near relevant.

I'm worried he's letting the fame go to his head. Especially now he's branching out to other clubs.

I think you may be correct in that assessment.

Neves is a fair comparison. The other 2 are nowhere near relevant.

Bellamy was a regular at a top six side when he dropped a division to sign for Cardiff. Sure he had a local connection but he was too good for this division.

Vicente was a world class 29-year-old who had only been released by Valencia because of injury problems. Very surprising no top flight clubs took a gamble.

This bloke has been released by Benfica aged 24 after failing to establish himself. Think that puts him closer to Tiago Ilori or John Swift than Craig Bellamy. A former hotshot joining a Championship club because he knows the manager seems like the sort of thing that happens all the time?

New season about to start and new manager is targeting 6-8 signings. Here we go again. Roll the dice and hope. No strategy.

Bellamy was a 33 year old who left Liverpool, who finished 8th, to go to his boyhood club. A club he had been on loan at the previous season while they were in the championship.

Vicente was shit.

That is a strategy of sorts. Not a good one mind you.

I was talking about the loan from Man City, when he was two years younger and had just played 32 matches in the PL (scoring 10 goals).

Vicente is probably the best footballer to play at this level since the change of name.

Well then it was a loan. To his boyhood club. At age 31.

Vicente, the 29 year old constantly injured player who managed only 29 games in two seasons due to being injured half the time and scored 5 goals in total was the best player to ever play in this league since the name change? In what way?

Vicente had better close control/dribbling than Ejaria and better technique and intelligence than Swift. He threw the most amazing dummies that made defenders look stupid. He always seemed to have more space and need less time. He had that terrible reoccurring injury but whenever he actually made it onto the pitch he would make things happen. Frankly he was just obviously too good for this level. This is a guy who won the Spanish league with Valencia, twice, and won Spanish player of the season in the process, and was only 29 when he played for Brighton.

Robin Friday played 21 times for Cardiff and scored 6 goals and he’s their greatest ever player. Vicente had similar figures from midfield and his issues weren’t self-inflicted. He was just too good to be at this level. He wasn’t washed up like Rooney at Derby or Terry at Villa, he was a player in his prime who just had a bad knee.

Anyway. You were saying that a Benfica reject would never come to the Championship?

Serbia isn’t in the EU so we’ll struggle. Unlikely we could attract any current internationals so we’d have to make the case for them being granted an exception in the Work Permit process, unless they held a second passport. Man United couldn’t get a permit for Adem Ljajic so the bar is pretty high.
