1-0 is a respectable defeat for this side, having seen the lineup I'm glad we didn't get totally blown out.

McNulty is finished. Not good enough + doesn't fit the system. Sackey should be ahead of him.

Baldock should not be a winger, and at the very least should not be captain, I actually think we would've been better off with GP out wide and Baldock as the striker

Aluko can't get released soon enough. If anyone of Ejaria/Swift/Olise/Laurent/Rino gets injured or suspended we are screwed. Hopefully some sensible signings are being lined up to add some depth.

Fair play to the academy lads. Not totally convinced by Bristow yet but he could be a case of right place right time. Held his own in both cup matches.

Snowflake Royal 86th minute before any urgency shown.

Dire.

Not happy to hear Paunovic is laying into Holmes either.

Ian wetting himself again and blaming the manager at every turn.

Try and keep dry in the night, use talc when you change your nappy.

There were 2 senior players on that pitch I never want to see play again for us. Seriously......money utterly p+ssed up the wall.

R8ings:

Southwood 7 - fine, some good saves

Araruna 7 maybe could have done more to block the cross for the goal?

Holmes 8 MOTM commanding

McIntyre 7 solid enough, a few questionable passing decisions

Bristow 6 - has some flair but was beaten for the goal and made a few poor decisions

Watson 5 - one good header early on, but not a midfielder, didn’t offer enough today

Tetek 6 - very young and did have a few good flourishes including probably the play of the match, but easy to see what our experienced midfielders provide

Aluko 5 very bitty performance. Worked hard. Possibly a victim of the lack of structure.

McNulty 4 - some good touches but clearly not at all suited, deeply ineffective, never threatened the goal directly or indirectly

Baldock - 5. Can’t go above that for someone in his position who doesn’t create or get any shots on target.

Puscas 6 - good hold up play first half, faded badly.

Subs:
Sackey - much better than McNulty
NML - not on for long enough
Abbey - 8)

Paunović 5 - think we would have been much better with a young winger ahead of McNulty

I haven't seen bed wetting quite like this.

It's the Carabao Cup 2nd round.

Not one single team in the competition wants to be in it.

We have a good chance of getting off to a flying start in the league and we have a small squad. We need to concentrate on the league.

We would have lost to Manchester United next week anyway.

Didn't he say a few weeks ago he was done with the club, never watching or listening again and has now turned into the clubs biggest fan.

He probably wears full kit and swings a wooden rattle infront of his Radio.

Puscas picking his nose and scratching his balls while the ball trickles in front of him just needing a tap in.

Aluko - actually the best of the bunch, but still nowhere near enough justifying his wage

Tetek - looked pretty good

Southwood - looked not bad

Ararararanana - did some nice things

Otherwise we were shit.

Sutekh Utter rubbish. No shots on target. If Reading pick up a load of injuries or suspensions the lack of depth is alarming.

That's exactly the sort of performance I feared when I heard Velcro likes to control possession and play out from the back.

Thank oxf*rd we have Laurent and Rinomhota to give a bit of tempo and push us forward

Neutral reporter on Sky said that we weren't threatening at all.
Bang goes the theory that youngsters and fringe players will give their all to put forward their case for first team consideration.

A wasted opportunity to get some TV money from the next round at a time when money is supposedly in very short supply.

All the stuff about protecting players and keeping them fresh is bollocks IMHO-more injuries happen in training that in matches and players love to play.

Momentum in sport should not be underestimated.

I wish people would not just take against a player and never give them a chance to redeem themselves. Aluko was actually quite good tonight to be fair and one of our better players, whereas Puscas, McNulty and Baldock offered very little.

The youngsters generally did quite well. Holmes looked particularly impressive.

For me the problem was not Aluko (he had a very solid game) but the
front three as unit were dire and looked like they didn't want to be there.

As long as he plays at this standard, Aluko deserves to be on the bench in the league

There was enough going into the box to think each one of them
should have had at least one shot on target

I'd like to see the stats but I suspect we had the ball in the box
at least much as Luton did. Weren't all their shots long-shots?

Holmes and McIntyre were reasonable to good.
I liked Araruna and I suspect he'd improve with games.

Tetek? looked composed. Can't remember Watson

Keeper looked OK. Left back ditto

You've somehow worked out we would have been on TV in the next round despite having nothing to back that up with.

We don't want to be in the competition, most teams don't as is evident by the teams being selected.

If our first team had played today they would not have been as fresh on Saturday, it is a basic fact. You have no idea which first team players would have loved to play this evening so don't speak for them.

Villa didn't play at the weekend, their better players need game time. Completely different scenario to us.
