yes, disappointing certainly. Looks like Baldock still our only cover for the moment. If the Mendes thing is happening, it'd be good to speed that along, esp if he has to isolate or something coming from Portugal

Unless he's got a part-time job as a lorry driver, I don't think he currently is allowed into the UK at all if he is coming from Portugal!

when the denmark/mink thing happened, sportspeople were exempt I think, so that might be the case here

The exemptions were given by the Government specifically for the Icelandic team, who played Denmark 3 days before they were due to play England in the Nations Cup in November; the Icelandic players stayed in a bio-secure bubble and were tested before flying into London.

There is no way a single player would be granted a similar exemption.

There’s are (or were) very specific government guidelines relating to elite sport and travel, and they did apply to individuals because obviously some sports are individual sports !
I think they were more aimed at allowing people to take part in competition, training and treatment than relocating so probably don’t apply to transfers, and may have been suspended anyway.

yeah did wonder that on Gibson with Pauno saying they were looking at bringing in a defender

two weeks for Olise sounds about right. Back for Bournemouth if a bit better than that

Is Gibson a loss? We could always play TMac there once Moore is back.

he looked pretty good to me but fully understand that Everton would want him back. He is pretty surplus once Moore is fit again, and would only make the bench even without Moore

He's now 5th choice CB and third choice LB, so think it's best for him and us to send him back.

That appears to be a very precise diagnosis.

Would be great if it's that or less but given the club's record on predicting returns from injury, I fear it may be longer.

I'd take that.

Looked to me like a fractured collar bone from the way he fell / held it afterwards which I'd have thought was 4-6 weeks.

You'd have thought the ground wasn't that hard. Who knows? I'm guessing.

Think he was moving to freely for a collar bone and would have gone straight to hospital. He circled his arm and shoulder a few times after doing it. I can only imagine that would be impossible and agony with a fractured collar bone.

I thought more heavy bruising or maybe he popped it in and out.

I did it at more than twice his age, first half, and finished the 90. Must have been only a small fracture though  Maybe not much difference between that and heavy bruising - which might only take 12 days according to Dr Eddie.

Just the thought of flexing my wrist after it had the smallest fracture makes me feel sick. Although I did try to play on for a bit at least (came out of goal though!)

Respect. And I'll defer to your better experience.

Important we come through Preston with no further injuries. I’m not convinced the likes of Meite and Yids will be back in time for Bournemouth and we don’t want to go into that game with further injuries as we already have seven out including Gibson.

A few years ago I slipped in a similar way on a training exercise at work and dislocated my shoulder, it popped straight back in again and felt a bit uncomfortable but I managed to carry on after two weeks of mild pain.

3 months later I'm doing pullups as part of my annual fitness test and my shoulder dislocates again tearing the labrum and leaving me needing 18 months of physio (I could have probably played football again after 8-12 months but not my job).

Turns out on the original dislocation I had fractured my humerus and a small tear in my labrum that untreated became much bigger issue. Though I assume Michael Olise will have more specialised medical attention than I did.

Totally agree. I guess that when I read that other teams are missing one or two or three players it winds me up that we have so many unavailable. Makes you wonder where in the table we might have been if we didn't have such an injury ravaged squad.

That is also why I have a LOT of time and respect for those players that are playing week in and week out for us, barely missing a game. Morrison, Rino and Laurent are the unsung heroes for me. I know that Olise, Richards, Cabral have all put a shift in and haven't missed many games. But hats off to Morrison, Rino and Laurent who just ALWAYS seem to be available :)
