Sadly another player I saw on the pitch leaving us this year. When I took my future wife (who knew nothing about football) to her first game she said "He's too short to be playing in hoops, he should play in vertical stripes, that will make him look taller". She was joking of course, but at the time I did wonder. She is still my wife and still knows nothing about football,

Sad news, but what a fantastic life. RIP and my thoughts with his family.

I had the pleasure of playing alongside Dougie and son Gary for the County Arms (RIP) . Pretty sure that Neil was at Man Utd at the time which would have made Dougie 50+ and he could still show us young ones a thing or two. Proper footballer and a proper gent as well.
RIP and condolences to Joan, Gary and Neil.

Saw Dougie about 2 years ago with Neil as they dropped off my car. Neil said he loved staying in his caravan down at Hayling. Cant get much more Reading than that. Great little goalscorer, brings back great memories

Was Douggie a painter/decorator in the close season? I'm sure it was him I saw painting our school in the early sixties, along with either Ron Tindall or Alan Scarrott.

Sad news indeed, I hope there will be a minutes applause/silence before either the Wycombe or Rotherham game
