Snowflake Royal I think Holmes may well be a better prospect at CB than McIntyre and I'd be quite happy seeing them playing together for us for many years.

Holmes seems like the perfect replacement for Morro, who can't have many more seasons at this level in him, so maybe we'll see a transition between the two across next season if we stay down.

A long term CB pairing of Holmes and McIntyre would tick so many boxes . Certainly Tom H has broken through in a big way this season and Tom Mc has been really unlucky on a number of fronts. With the form Moore and Morrison are in it’s hard to see TomMc getting a game until the cup 3rd round and even then you wonder whether he’ll have been found a loan slot somewhere.

Gibson might be recalled in January tbf. Don't we only have him on a half season loan with an option to extend?

Best to have 4 CBs with how packed in the schedule is. TMac will get his chance i reckon.

Zip Birmingham are yet another team that don’t score many but don’t concede many either. Just 12 scored and only 14 conceded in 16 games.

4-4 draw it is then :)

Isn't Gibson the only LB cover for Richards? But agree that it'd make sense to send him back and bring in specialist LB cover. Holmes' development this season means he's simply not necessary.

Well 2 things on that spring to mind.

1. A fit Yaidom covers the left hand side fairly well imo. Hes played CB for us, why not LB?

2. Rumours are that if Richards doesn't sign a new contract with us by mid January we will sell him in January so a LB might already be our scouting departments top priority. Hope he stays obviously.

Hopefully 2nd point is just a rumour. I can see the argument behind Yiadom covering at LB, but I'm becoming concerned by his fitness. How many games has he played in the past 12 months? Single figures I'd guess.

Yep his fitness is a worry for sure.

On Richards I wouldnt be surprised if it is true. His contract is running out and we would be foolish to let him leave for nothing. More importantly, other clubs would be stupid not to have sat up and taken notice of him this season. If your scouts haven't spotted a young LB excelling with only 6 months left on his contract then they are not doing their job properly.

I expect McIntyre could do a similar job to Holmes at LB. He is left footed isnt he?

But I don't think I'd particularly fancy 4 Cbs in the back 4. Almost Pulis style

He quite possibly could. Seems a bit slower than Holmes though.

I'm choosing to belive he learned a lot from that and is going to be a better player for it.

Played there a few times under Clement and Gomes. Found it quite strange though, given it was to accommodate Gunter who was arguably as good, if not better at LB in his last few seasons here

Think he was also a regular for Barnsley at LB in his last season there but not 100% sure on that one

Think so, also partly down to the fact that Blackett was dropped for that combo even after he'd started that season relatively well

McIntyre broke into the U23s playing at left back. He had a tendency to check back rather than putting the ball into the box and there’s no doubt that CB is his role, but he’s familiar with left back.

A little strangely, Richards was also in the team at the time but would play on the wing or in midfield because we’d loaned all our good midfielders out.

As I’ve said elsewhere, Holmes broke into the u18s (and possibly also the U21s) playing right back when we had Osho and Axel at centre back (and McIntyre injured).

I wonder how Andresson is getting along. Must go check that.

Thanks for the post BTW.

Norwegian top flight, it looks like. Still just the two full caps.

Apparently his father Andres was formerly the strongest man in the world

So many dire games against this lot at home, as already alluded to

Lost last year’s 3-2 in what was one of the worst performances of the season
Five seasons in a row before last, we didn’t even score against them (in the league) with a possible contender for the most miserable home performance through the 2010s chucked in that lot

We’re surely due a home win against this lot
