Sutekh Injury news for Saturday, players out

Luton

James Bree

Reading

Andy Yiadom, Yakou Meite, Felipe Araruna, Omar Richards, Lewis Gibson and George Puscas.

Jon Swift and/or Lucas Joao may possibly be on the bench.

Seen and heard nothing about Liam Moore being out other than the remarks on this board, anyone able to provide more info? Presume it’s something that’s happened in training?

It was tweeted by the guy who called the Gibson injury.

Getting to be like the good old days of Stam and Clement then with continually at least 3/4 first teamers out every game. Could management and medical teams do something better perhaps? Going to be a real struggle until the end of January.

The other two games in January are home and away against Coventry and Preston-two fixtures that one might expect to pick up points from but they are two teams that we have already lost against recently with almost our full squad to choose from!!!

You sure about that?

Coventry was missing Swift, Yiadom, Araruna, Meite and Ejaria

Preston was missing the same plus Moore.

That's four to five first team players out

Wouldn't have counted Yiadom and Araruna but your point still stands.
I suppose those games came when we had been flying high and any injuries didn't feel as drastic as they do now.

My brother, who is into horse racing in a big way, said that it is always the good horses that get injured and in Reading's case he said "It couldn't be Baldock or Aluko could it?"
Happy Christmas.

We lost 4 in a row and the chat was all about being screwed by injuries!

It felt pretty bad.

I’m tempted by a back three:

Rafael; Holmes, Morrison, McIntyre; Esteves, Rinomhota, Ejaria, Laurent, Olise; Baldock, Melvin-Lambert

A lot of responsibility upon Olise and I’m not sure he has the energy. Could play Bristow in the role and move Olise up just behind the striker.

Expect we’ll get a 4-2-3-1 as always. Aluko in for Melvin-Lambert and playing in the hole.

Think this will be "Jimmy's" last chance, anything but a convincing win and he is a goner.

Shown teams far too much respect at the madejski recently. Birmingham could barely string a few passes and rolled us over.

We are blighted by injuries but I hope we go out and put in an attacking performance we know these players are capable of. I appreciate João and Meite will be out, Blacdock is toilet, but the midfield should be creating far more chances than we have over the last couple of fixtures. We’ve created sod all over the past few games with Rino, Laurent, Olise and Ejaria all available. They all need to do better in this one.

Not wishing to be a pedant  Ian but the Coventry game came after we had just won 3 on the trot v Wycombe, Rotherham and Blackburn so indeed we were flying high.
That is why we thought we could cope with injuries but the results then and in some subsequent games showed that we can't.

Anyway, back to Luton and we hope for the best today.

Had we beaten Coventry we would have gone ten points clear at the top!

Thinking I'm going to see the team before deciding whether to spend money on this.

But more likely I will look at the team and somehow think we can still win and then hand over my tenner

That’s the worst side we have put out this season. I’m going to watch the Villa game. I just don’t want to watch Baldock running around to no good effect. Olise just has to start.

So...we have a player rumoured to be worth around £8m - £10m...and he can't get into THAT team ????

That is ridiculous.

I decided to wait and see the line-up before deciding whether to hand over the tenner. Seen the team. Not remotely optimistic so giving this a miss.
I hope Dellor asks Paunovic about these injuries. They have reached silly levels.

Swifty back in the frame...that’s got to be a minor plus?

Is Olise carrying an illness/injury or something?

Looks like a defensive set up. Keep it tight for as long as possible (say 60 - 70 mins) and then bring on Olise and Swift?

I should imagine it’s something to do with what players are available around him and the tactics VP feels he needs to deploy to frustrate the opponents. Baldock also started v QPR and Olise didn’t. Then Olise started v Norwich and Baldock didn’t. They both started last week and Reading were woeful.
