No need for four right backs in the squad.

TiagoIlori They’ve been in poor form lately, so hopefully we can take advantage of their low confidence as they’ve only won one in six in the league. Would be bloody typical if they decide they’ll start performing again here though.

Think the lack of form was the reason for the strong side last night - seen as a chance to get a win under the belts and come into the game against us with a little more confidence. If ever there was a game calling for us to score early this is it as could decimate whatever confidence they do have.

Problem is Bournemouth know that they have already beaten us this season. Bournemouth know that they beat us after being 2 goals down at half-time. Surely all their manager has to do is give the same team talk that he gave at half-time in the previous game and they take home the 3 points?

Yeah fair point but the difference then is they were in form - 1 defeat in 9 in the league whereas now they come into the game with just 1 win in 6. A confident team will also believe they can turn a game around - a team out of form makes it much harder.

We are on the completely different track. We went to Bournemouth on the back of 3 defeats, so despite being 2 up as soon as they started to come back, we crumbled mentally. Now, we are undefeated in 5, barely conceding and looking very mentally tough (penalty misses aside). An early goal for us this time would have a much bigger relative impact, IMO, than they did back in October.

I hope you are right.
Perhaps you could give the team talk.

This is the big one for me and fellow Royals based down this way and hopefully we won't crumble as we did in the away fixture.

If Bournemouth play Rico at left back (they don't always if they are looking to be defensive in approach to a game) I would like to see Olise wide right and taking him on-he is a poor defender who is too quick to commit himself and exposes the defensive line.
If their approach is to attack he has good delivery and is useful going forward.

Joao v Steve Cook will be a good battle but Cook is much more physical than some of the defenders that we have been up against of late but , as with Rico, he can be tempted to dive in.

As with the first game our greatest issue might well be with their wide players especially if both Brooks and Danjuma start so I hope we press right from the start in the midfield areas.

I very much doubt that they will come to defend so there could well be a few goals and this time , to maintain our top 6 push, the result needs to be the other way round.
A note of caution, they may be seemingly out of form but last night managed 21 shots, 10 of which were on target.

Since the reverse fixture at Bournemouth, our second half of games have been really strong, in fact, just conceding 2 goals in the last 12 second halves in all competitions. Perhaps an indication of a much fitter team this time around

Interesting to see if Bournemouth line up with a back four/back five, seem to rotate amongst the two a fair bit

Against league 2 opposition with several players out with positive covid tests though

Still, they had already beaten a near full strength Leeds side 3-0 so are no mugs and 21 shots in one game is quite a lot.
I'll be glad when this game is over.

The fact they beat us 4-2 having been 2-0 down suggests we probably won't be underestimating them.

Jlow confirms that Meite and Yiadom are back for tomorrow, and Olise is fully fit. Obvs that is hardly a 100% cast iron guarantee but looks good

Will be nice to have more sub options than the usual ones of Esteves, Baldock and Semedo etc. Can tell Pauno doesn’t quite trust the bench options too much considering he only made 1 change out of 5 on Sunday

Hopefully Meite will be fit enough for 30 minutes or so, and then try and get him in from the start against Stoke to try and at least partially match their XI of 8 foot players everywhere

Against a mid-table L2 side thats hardly surprising, and only won 2-1.

From 6th Feb to 6th March we play nine games in 28 days. It looks like we could be in a good position regarding injuries going into what is going to be a non stop run of matches.

Hang on one minute there Zip... I seem to recall a number of posters not worrying about the amount of games we had left to play this season... and now you're telling me that we're playing a game every 3 days in the next month?!!? :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Sure would be handy to have won that cup game when we didn't have a particularly crammed period of fixtures to give some of the youth and reserves more competitive minutes to be ready to step in for the injuries that are likely during such a hectic schedule coming up.

I think you somehow missed the point that Crawley had previously beaten Premier League Leeds 3-0 so perhaps you are being a bit selective.
Let's hope that Bournemouth don't find their form tonight.

There are three really good teams in the League this season.Bournemouth,Norwich and Watford. The Bees are capable and on their day can really play.Bar us the rest of the League are Atypical Chump teams.Very direct, very physical and comfortable playing to the ref with professional fouls. We are a bit of an oddity really;despite Josh and Rino, the rest of the midfield are out and out flair players and the Chump teams get at those players early. Our ace in the hole is Jao,who can make a goal for himself out of nothing. This is likely to be a hell of a game.
