Hound We were excellent but can’t get over how bad Bournemouth were esp in the first half

How much must they have spent on Danjuma, Solanke, Billing, Brooks, Lerma (£30m? Bloody hell), Mepham, Rico, Kelly etc. Bar Brooks they were all utterly woeful

With no doubts huge wages for King, Begovic and others they can’t hope to sustain that side unless they go back up

Lerma and Billing - were particularly desperately poor. Prancing round the pitch. Absolutely rinsed by our freebie Laurent and Rino

That Billing was oxf*rd dreadful.

Just trotted round the pitch at half pace and looks incredibly weak for a lad of 6ft5

Only 2 players in the starting lineup cost a fee (if I’m correct...) Ovie and Joao. Even with our 5 subs, only one other player cost a fee and that was Aluko.

Sky should really change the emphasis of how much we’ve spent to how well we’ve done without spending a lot tbh

Aluko was obvs a huge spunk of money but that was 4 years ago now. In our squad of 18 it’s only Ejaria, Aluko and Joao that cost a penny in transfer fees. And Ejaria and Joao could be sold for easily double what we paid if not a lot more

Yep, the rest were frees or academy players.

There’s a massive message in there somewhere about trying to grow the team organically rather than trying to buy success

Everything seems to have fallen into place for us because of the FFP restrictions strangely. We’ve had to be really careful on recruitment, only buy those with sell on value, make clever loans and use academy players

The scattergun failed Gourlay attempt to buy promotion seems a world away

The big spending must still be continuing though in the form of wages. Meite Puskas Aluko Moore Joao Swift all probably on large salaries.

Brooks made a big difference when he came on. Glad he didn’t start.

Brooks looked quality, as he did in the away fixture. Apart from that, a rancid record of overpriced poor recruitment. No wonder they came down.

Had Brooks just come back from injury? If not, it is odd he didn’t start as he looked their best player by some margin.

Nope he’s been starting for a couple of months on return from injury but dropped to the bench last night as he hasn’t been playing well.

Didn’t think there were that many potential yellows that weren’t given. The 3:1 victory is testament to that. Had Bournemouth been cynical and dirty like Preston we’d not have scored 3.

They played sportingly and lost 3:1.

You’re apparently German so your concept of sporting behaviour leaves a lot to be desired.

On reflection there was I think two (2) dodgy challenges in the air that the ref didn’t give cards for and one was in the first 5 minutes when cards are rarely given and the ref did pull the player up for it.

Perhaps my assessment of it was in the absolute horror show served up by Preston and their ref.

No need to subject me to your Friday night drunken racist abuse though Leon.

Fair enough Fritz.

What a start to the weekend. Best game for me since 6-0 against West Ham.

It says ‘was’ rather than ‘is’ !
I read that if bmouth don’t go up this year they are financially stuffed.
Of course us getting promotion would iron out one or two financial wrinkles as well.

No doubts. But you can afford to do that when you’ve not spent big transfer fees and you could easily offload any of them for a decent sum if needed

Aluko was 4 years back. Different era and ooc in June

IMO too many clubs getting promoted forget to scout the Championship and lower leagues. They spend £30m on a player like Jefferson Lerma when you can pick up a Josh Laurent for nothing. Hopefully with tighter immigration controls for EU players may result in more British players getting more opportunities in the higher leagues. All bar Joao and Rafael are “British” though I accept some choose to play international football for their family’s heritage countries, which is fair enough. Not trying to be xenophobic but the dipping into international players has been the easy option for many years

Especially as they sold their most saleable assets already in Ake and Wilson. They may be able to sell Brooks, but who else will get a good fee to substantially help their finances?

Official stats really are a big lie aren`t they? anyone reading them would think Bournemouth were unlucky 62%-38% possession, 19 (5)-18 (9) and 12-2 corners, that's so far from the truth, thoroughly deserved win by us.

Danjuma is a good player, just didn’t show it last night, imo.

Let's not forget they've shown us what they're capable of once. Blew us away second half at their place and looked really good.

Quality is there if they're up for it and can apply themselves.
