Internationals coming up

by Mid Sussex Royal » 16 Mar 2021 13:38

Just seen the Portugal and Scotland squads announced and no Joao and McIntyre involved. Good for us with the Barnsley game straight after the break but unfortunate for the players, saw an interview with Joao somewhere recently saying he was hoping for a call up

But Lindon Dykes gets a call up for Scotland despite having been dropped by QPR weeks ago....

McBirnie and Burke in the Scotland squad despite having scored the same number of goals as McIntyre between them this season !

Who cares, let them rest up, finish the season strongly and get their call ups for the June games.

Same goes for people moaning about Olise or RIchards not making U21 squads - I'd much rather they stay here then head off to play 3 games in 6 days after the run of games we've had.

So what players do we have that get regular international call-ups? I can only think of Puscas off the top of my head (though now I think about it, Tetek has been called up a couple of times recently).

Yiadom for Ghana and you’d think Semedo must be on the radar for Guinea Bissau !

Going to say, 6 players called up - 3 seniors and 3 youngsters:

Coniah Boyce-Clarke - England U18 (v Wales)
Dejan Tetek - Serbia U21 (v Turkey)
Ben Purcell - Wales U17 (training camp only)

Liam Moore - Jamaica (game v USA in Vienna)
George Puscas - Romania ( pgames v North Macedonia, Germany and Armenia)
Alfa Semedo - Guinea-Bissau (games v Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) and Congo)

That's good the Jamaica game is in Europe, he'll be back with us by Friday

A bit harsh as they are not even playing in the same division as Tom (yet).

Puscas got the last 27 minutes as a sub in Romania’s 3-2 win over North Macedonia.

Puscas just sent off for Romaina, straight red, winning 2-1 (he hasn't scored)

But he did start....

Red card here: https://streamja.com/Ew7R6

Now Armenia have scored twice in the last five mins and won 3-2. Bonkers!

Looks like a very harsh red card to me, defender had his head lowered rather than Puscas having his foot high.

Joao plays for the same country as Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Felix, Andre Silva, and Diogo Jota, so pretty optimistic of him to think he might be in line for a call-up!
