Didn't watch every game, but from what I saw:

Best Player? - Joao (even with the misses)

Worst Player? - Don't like saying anyone is the worst, but least productive would have the be Baldock

Best performance? - Rafael v Swansea (a)

Worst Performance? - Don't like to say it, but Gibson really did have a torrid time in the Watford (a) game

Best signing? - Laurent

Worst Signing? - Again, don't like saying worst but most disappointing would have to be Semedo

Most improved player? - McIntyre or Holmes

Least improved player? - Richards after the Bayern news

Best game of the season? - Bournemouth (h)

Worst game of the season? - Luton (a)

Best side we played? - Brentford (even though their form dropped off a cliff after playing us)

Worst side we played? - Barnsley, don't care that they finished in the play-offs, thought they were dreadful.

Added in - Goal of the season? - Swift v Coventry (h)

Best Player? - Olise - didn't play well every game but look at the stats - whatever anyone says we will miss him big time if he's sold...Laurent's been great but football is about scoring/creating goals

Worst Player? - Baldock - probably harsh and accept not played in a system that suited him

Best performance? - Joao V Hudds A

Worst Performance? - Esteves - killed by Danjuma - Bournemouth A

Best signing? - Laurent

Worst Signing? - I guess Esteves, but not much choice and he was only here to gain some experience

Most improved player? - McIntyre - looked class in several positions

Least improved player? - Ejaria - not kicked on as would have hoped

Best game of the season? - Bournemouth (h)

Worst game of the season? - Both Birmingham games

Best side we played? - Brentford and Norwich second half away

Worst side we played? - Sheffield Wed over both games looked dreadful

Added in - Goal of the season? - Joao - third goal V Bournemouth - great team goal

Worst game of the season? Barnsley for that miss

Don't know about best and worst but I'm watching the Huddersfield playoff final being rerun on Sky. Jesus, forget just how bad it was watching Stamball. How did we ever survive 90 minutes of watching this crap let alone finish third. You can actually see that how easily it went wrong for Stam once teams started to learn how to press high up the pitch.

We watched it, despite it being shite, because we won a lot, and Kermo scored a lot of goals from not very many chances

Best ~ Not struggling to stave off relegation.

Worst - Lack of crowd certainly influenced the games.

Replay that season over again under "normal" conditions could be so very different in many ways.

I lost count of the number of times I came out of the game thinking God how did we win that. If it wasn’t for the brilliance of Al Habsi in goal we would’ve been nowhere near the play offs. And yet strangely our best two performances were against Fulham in the play-off semifinals. Stam got the tactics just write to nullify Fulham is attacking strength. However he chose to play that way in the final against a team who were nowhere near as prolific in front of goal as Fulham and we managed one shot on target in 120 minutes.

That game must go down as one of the worst games played at the National Stadium even the penalty shootout was boring and predictable.

I didn't have a season ticket that year - but the few games I saw included some of the worst games of football i've ever seen. And I think we won them all!

Back on topic (sort of):

Best part of the season was those few months when it looked like Joao was the dog's bollocks and he was going to single-handedly drag us into PL football.

The worst part for me was actually a game we won - Rotherham away. Despite the 3 points it was just crystal-clear from our performance that we didn't have what it took to get promoted.

I watched that replay. UGH

Curious as to what people think/thought of the team, compared to this season's?

Swift
Al Habsi
Moore
Danny Williams
Kermogant...

Yeah OK

Gunter, (ish) but I'd prefer Richards and Yiadom

But
Illori?
Van de Berg?
Evans?
Blackett?
Grabban?

Surely that's a much weaker 11 than this season's team?

and Kelly on as sub...

Best thing about this season was being able to watch an away game on iPlayer for £10

Think it’s hard to compare the two teams really as the styles of play was fairly different. Stam’s team set up with two out and out wide players, playing a fairly expansive game whereas Paunovic’s focused more on intricate play through the centre

At a push I’d probably say this year’s squad had more overall quality but Stam’s was more adaptable (could easily change into 2/3 different formations) and the front players in Stam’s team were more reliable and more consistent

Not sure many of those you’ve listed in the second list were actually regulars either, Blackett aside. VDB and Evans rotated, Ilori only started about three games that season and Grabban didn’t start many either. Forgetting McShane who was superb that season
