Bigtimmeh Joao post on Instagram appears to suggest he had his second operation of two today.

Still find it hard to believe that he ended up with such a serious injury just from falling down.

Missed it yesterday, but are Dann and Drinkwater injured or just not match fit?

Would imagine Southwood would be straight in then, surprised they're looking for an emergency loan when they have CBC to come in, but I guess they then might be a bit short on the u23 side with Anderson out on loan as well.

Depends on who they can get on loan I guess. If they get an established goalkeeper in with a lot of experience then I don't think Southwood gets a run in the side, he'll obviously play tomorrow though.
Personally I would go with Southwood. It is likely he will be our number 1 next season and needs the game time, get him used to first team football in preperation for next season.

Yeah, probably agree with that.

I’m not confident any of the younger GK’s (including Southwood) are ready for Championship football.

Certainly feel we need an experienced keeper with all our defensive issues.

The likes of Mitrovic next weekend will nobble Liam Moore and have a bloody field day against Southwood.

How can you be ready for Championship football without playing Championship football? Goalkeepers need to play, only way they will learn. Southwood isn't a young kid either, he's 23 and has played a lot of first team football elsewhere.

Point taken but we need someone to step in that is ready for this level.

From what I’ve seen (admittedly limited) he doesn’t command his box well at all.

Pauno hasn’t got time to help players learn, we need to win matches and keep clean sheets. It’s a gamble if we don’t get an experienced GK on board, one which could fail miserably.

Exactly that. Had a half season in the scots prem, plus loans at other clubs. If he isn't ready now, he never will be. Just give him a go - tbh couldn't do a lot worse than Rafael this season anyway

Would certainly be looking at bringing JA back if Rafael is out for a long period

Yep have Andresson back as number two.

I read somewhere we cannot recall him. Not sure if that is 100% though.

Yeh can't you only recall loans during the transfer window?

You can't recall season long loans outside a transfer window - and only then if we wrote a break clause into the contract.

I'd be surprised if we are allowed an emergency loan given we have Southwood who can and should start, as well as CBC who can go on the bench. If we lost a second keeper, then I think a loan would be viable.

Injuries are certainly doing a number on us - assume this was picked up in the match but interesting* that CBC warmed up on Saturday so there may have been a slight question mark over Rafael going into the game.

Sweepstake on length out - 3 to 4 months is standard now isn't it?

Just checked: An emergency loan needs all professional keepers at the club to be out so unless Southwood drops down injured too, it will be him with CBC on the bench for however long Rafael is out for.

Obviously don't like seeing anyone injured, but this could be exactly the chance Southwood needs to prove he can be number 1 going forward.

Rather than list who is missing/injured each game, wouldn't it be easier to list who isn't injured !!!!

It is an absolute joke.

So what you’re saying is our only option is to go with Southwood (who fluffed his Championship debut against Huddersfield in May) and CBC who is yet to make a professional appearance.

What a great position to be in :|

Southwood has had 80 odd games at national south/national/Scots Prem and England age groups. He is 23 not 18.

its not ideal but he really should be up to being a champ keeper <If> he is good enough. If not, we should have released him.
