SCIAG Wouldn’t be surprised to see Halilovic do well at this level. Clearly a good player, shame about his injury record.

His playing record does not suggest he will do well anywhere. He is 26 next month and already played for ten different clubs.
The most games he has played for any club is 44 times.
A waste of a squad place.

Hound Decent set of info there by the club and agree basically with who they’ve offered to

Be nice to see K Ehib, Clarke, Camara, Dorsett, Samuels and Ashcroft all sign up from the u23 particularly. Hopefully they will

Nothing to suggest there that Swift will stay. Reckon Hoilett prob will

Yes, surprisingly transparent for once! Maybe a positive sign of a change of tact on comms.

So the same as Lewis Baker who is now doing well at Stoke?

Only reason Halilovic has played for so many clubs is because he was signed by two of the biggest clubs in the world and then farmed out on loan to other top-flight teams.

Michael Hector, 16 clubs, most appearances 54 (for us). Doesn’t stop some people quite loudly arguing he’d make a great signing.

There is a huge difference. Halilovic has been signed permanently by five different clubs and not been kept on by any of them. Baker was bought by Chelsea and been loaned out throughout his career.

He ran down his contracts at Hamburg and Birmingham, and the other two, again, are two of the biggest clubs in the world.

Don’t think “released by Barcelona and AC Milan” translates to “not good enough for the Championship”.

Yeah I bet Hamburg were devastated to lose him having played all of six times for them.

Like Boye, there’s a player in there but it didn’t translate for us, aside from a couple of good performances at the start. Didn’t help that he couldn’t stay fit mind

Not sure there’s a world of difference with Baker, who aside from his loan spell at Vitesse, disappointed until he joined us (and even then, he was pretty poor the first 6/7 weeks or so and without the injury crisis we had in midfield may not have been afforded the game time he got when he started playing well). Sometimes it takes a sustained run of games for a player to find their feet, something Halilovic never really got here with so many injuries

Injuries first, inc seemingly taking an age to come back from the fa cup horror show

Then clearly ince didn’t rate him for what he needed at the time

He did look a good if lightweight player at times. Couple of shocking performances in their mind you

Agreed prob needed a good run of games which he never managed to get

Outside the first 10 games of the season where Halilovic looked bright, he was basically never fit after that point, baring in mind he didn't join until about 4/5 games into the season anyway.

He only went on to play 11 times for us, not a big miss.

I liked Halilovic's tempo and his directness. He was usually looking to drive forward, whether by pass or dribble.

After that injury, he didn't seem the same. Whether that was him, the general morale loss in the side or who was available to combine with, not sure.

Seemed more of an attacking central midfielder like Swift, than a wide player.

Could have been very good but for some reason didn’t work. Shame.

Remember watching Darren Caskey make his debut for Spurs in the old division one. Talented player. Lacked the application or something else in their character. Which is why some , like Ejaria or Blackett, will never make the grade. Sometimes better to have rugged players like Cooper. Who was let go as lacked technical ability.

Cooper was let go because he couldn’t defend as well as the other options. He didn’t lack technical ability. He’s flourished at a Millwall side that play very compactly and where his defensive deficiencies are masked by the system.

Caskey was an excellent player at this level, as is Ejaria, and Blackett was at least good. Strange to pick them out as players who will “never make the grade”.

Esp as Cooper, Ejaria and Blackett have all made the same ‘grade’ so far as regular champ players

Think there’s a point in there somewhere but agreed it’s rather strange wording and the comparison to Cooper doesn’t make much sense

Certainly in the case of Blackett, he had the potential to be a Prem player but made too many mistakes/was rather too lethargic to be more than a typical Champ player

Coincidentally though, Blackett and Ejaria, on the few occasions they both played with each other on the left hand side, had a really good understanding with each other, never understood why it was disrupted

Cooper is a solid player, had his best season when he was linked to the PL, but agree that Millwall's system gets the best out of him, not that it's really an issue for him.

Ejaria is a pretty good player, wouldn't mind seeing him with Ojo, who is available on a free, as they were both part of Liverpool's academy.

Blackett I was always thought was pretty underwhelming honestly, but probably biased because he used to make so many errors and he used to look poor. Only time he ever looked good to me was when we went on a great run under Bowen.

Blackett was never as good as Stam thought he was and he's done nothing since to suggest otherwise.

He had that decent spell playing wingback but the moment he got linked to Turkey, he lost interest.

The big irony on here being the debate about do we keep Obita or Blackett with Richards as back up.

So when do we think we'll start to hear if players are re-signing?

Get the feeling June will be a quiet month up until preseason starts then we'll see a flurry of contracts and signings in that first week back.

Ince said that he wants players in time for preseason so I assume they could start rolling in fairly soon. I believe players are normally contracted/paid by their current clubs up until 30 June so can we announce them prior to 1 July? You’re probably right about lots of announcements during the first week back. If not, it will be a bit worrying.
