2 wins away on the spin surely means we'll lose this one

More injury bad news, but this time for Baggies fans - Matt Phillips will miss the game due to a hamstring problem.

Not great if Swift has picked up an injury, hopeful it's a minor one, club have said it's his hamstring. West Brom have had a bit of a defensive wipe-out thanks to covid so should have an effect on the match.

For those that know their WBA, their XI is:

Johnstone
Furlong
Bartley
Robinson
Livermore
Molumby
Hugill
Grant
Reach
Mowatt
Gardner-Hickman

I get we’re playing 5 at the back…but then is it 3 central mids and 2 strikers? If so, why is Halilovic playing in front of Puscas? Interesting to see what formation we actually line up in!

West Brom starting 11 is strong, but their squad is threadbare thanks to Covid. Could spring a surprise here

Good to see Hoilett and Ararun back.

Ashcroft in for Swift seems an odd choice with Osorio, Camara, Hoilett and Araruna on the bench.

Guessing

................Southwood
Holmes, Moore, Dann, Rahman
...................Laurent
Ashcroft, Tetek, Bashiru, Halilovic
.....................Caroll

Drinkwater isn't playing, you're missing Tetek in the line-up.

Is Swift another "soft tissue" injury to add to the list? I get Joao, Meite, Morrison and McIntyre were proper contact injuries, but the amount of little knocks is obscene. That article the club published was pure spin. Are the demands of playing today any worse than they were 10 - 15 years ago, or has our club just regressed in this area?

Is Ashcroft a midfielder rather than a defender? Assumed he was in at RB.

Ashcroft is a right back but will probably be playing right wing-back today. Imagine it will be something like:

Southwood
Holmes, Dann, Moore
Ashcroft, Laurent, Tetek, Rahman
Halilovic, Carroll, TDB

Didn’t he play as a central defender in his earlier appearance, or was it CDM?

tidus_mi2 Obviously want Reading to win every game but if we lost I do echo the sentiments that at least it means West Brom keep pace with Bournemouth who for me are possibly the most unlikeable team in the Championship right now.

Agreed.
Bournemouth have the least fans of any team outside National League South and would break every FFP rule by continuing in the Championship without parachute payments, unless they sold their entire team at some point next season.

It’s do or die for them this season…

And I do hope, in metaphorical footballing terms, it’s the latter.

Baggies and Fulham to go up and whoever else from the play offs except AFC ‘Tiny Club’.
