NathStPaul Which football pundits have spoken about next season in the Championship? Haven't seen anything.

Ryan Dilks, Justin Peach, Don Goodman and Andy Hinchliffe.

Any links? Assume you saw their thoughts in a written piece.

blythspartan Most football pundits have us nailed on for relegation next season, especially if we lose Joao. One of the reasons given on a popular podcast is because we have Paul Ince as Manager which is a bit harsh. I get that we only have 7 contracted players but there’s a while to go before the season starts. Let’s suck it in and prove the oxf*rd wrong.

Shock as team who finished fourth from bottom is tipped for relegation the season after..

The same pundits will predict Burnley, Watford and Norwich will go up

Saw this on Twitter yesterday, it is a Podcast (I've not listened to it):

https://mobile.twitter.com/secondtierpo ... 6064149505

“If they lose Swift and Joao in the same summer”
“Add in they’ve got Paul Ince as their manager”
“They’re stuffed!”

Dilks comes across as hating Reading (no idea why) as he was v. negative about us all of last season

In fairness, some of their comments are justified. Obviously too early to tell because it's just one outgoing (be it a significant one) and a few rumoured departures without anything concrete happening yet and no inbound players yet either. It really does depend on how our squad shapes up come September once the window closes.

I'm optimistic in the main by the rumours I've been seeing about players coming in, whereas the likes of Swift and Joao leaving wasn't exactly a shock to the system for anyone. I can fully understand why someone would have us down for relegation next season though as our current situation doesn't exactly stand us in good stead.

Was Don Goodman in Mark Lawrenson's kit bag ?
Otherwise, what have we done to him ?

He was involved in the foul goal for Wolves that Archie then overturned with a late brace that I believe prevented Wolves being promoted.

Dilks is a clown and not a pundit. Just some geek bedroom podcaster who has never played a second of football at any level, therefore his opinion is completely void.

A club with no money, with their two best players about to leave, who only just avoided relegation last time, with very few players contracted for the new season, relying on a scouting network that doesn't yet exist to bring in new players... it would be quite a brave pundit to tip us not to go down.

The hope really amounts to having something of a clean slate with regards to bringing players in.

Not to mention this "clean slate" isn't exactly such either as the bulk of our deals will be reliant on free transfers and loan signings, with (likely) very little wriggle room on actually spending money on players, so that limits what we can do against most other clubs at this level.

For some of our fans; the only thing to be hopeful for is a trip to Shrewsbury in 2023/24

I am positive for next season, not expecting a monster turnaround but think we have turned a corner behind the scenes with a better structure and things will get better
