We're only up to 190 signatures... guess thats not so bad considering last night when when I signed we were only at 100 or so

We need a few thousand at least if we can ask the club to reconsider their SHOCKINGLY short-sighted decision to put cash before their loyal fans.

Andy West / anyone at the club... do you have any idea just how ANGRY the fans are about this stupid decision .. or are you going to ignore the fans (again).. and work out how to fleece them (again).

Come on guys.. SPREAD The word... and get signatures quickly.. we can make a difference... sign up NOW !

Gregster Apologies for the way RFC have treated you guys. I'll still be tuning into the pre-match buildup though on the way to the stadium.

I simply can't stand 107fm.

Oi Oi, 107 is budget, but Radio Berks is pucker

The Evening Post BBC Radio Berkshire has lost the rights to broadcast Royals matches as the club prepares to play its first season in the Premiership.

Rival station Reading 107fm, owned by Royals’ chairman John Madejski, has won exclusive rights to the coverage after a £65,000 bid by the Beeb was turned down by Reading FC.

The move means listeners outside Reading 107’s range will not be able to follow Royals games on air unless they are on national station BBC Radio Five Live.

A BBC spokesman said: “The club asked for a huge increase in their rights fee, over three times what we paid last season.

“We’ve offered a substantial increase, in line with similar clubs in the league, but are not prepared to meet the club’s financial demands.”

Reading 107 managing director Jeff Lee said: “This is great news for Reading 107. Our coverage of the biggest season in Reading Football Club’s history will be second to none.”

I just signed the petition, but unfortunately I can't see how this can make a difference to the current commentary contract!

If it is signed and sealed then it is legally binding. It has been done already. Shame but its happened.

It is sad how football has become so commercialised! The only way to stop the commercialisation of football is to cut off the demand....

Fans of all football clubs should form a union and set a maximum price that they are prepared to pay for match tickets, football shirts etc!!

All fans of all clubs should boycott the current situation and refuse to pay more than £8 for a match ticket. A union of football supporters must be formed!! An almost impossible task but maybe it can be done with strong leadership which unfortunately won't be coming from myself. A leader needs to be found and appointed to form a Union of all fans from all clubs and refuse to pay silly money to watch the beautiful game. Lets stamp out the excessive money that is ruining the game as a competitive sport! And making the rich richer and the poor richer as well but unable to compete with the richest clubs in any way shape or form!

RFC could do a u-turn and accept the bid that BBCRB put in- instead of raising the bar to a level they know they can't match, and instead allow duel broadcasting rights. It stinks as it is, and the fact that BBCRB tendered an offer equal to that of national premiership broadcasting rights makes you wonder whether they had any intention at all of making it a fair process.

They have spared no thought for anyone outside the boardroom. Especially the fans and their wishes, and the work BBCRB have put in over the years to spread awareness and bring RFC to 10's of thousands of homes on a Saturay has just been ignored. Thats what really takes the piss.

LOYALTY IS NOT JUST A ONE WAY PROCESS £FC!!

Well duh! When you have a monopoly it's pretty hard not to.....

But I'm sure they'll still manage.

Tim Dellor is one of the best radio commentators around - knowledgable and amusing. We have to get him back commentating so he can be picked up as a future 5 Live commentator

Normally I run a mile when I see an outside broadcaster sporting a microphone but I might just hunt out Reading 107 at the Middlesbrough game and would encourage everyone to make them unbroadcastable. I don't mean swearing or being abusive, just point out how BBC Berks are so much better and the decision to deny them broadcasting rights is a travesty.

I didn't always agree with opinions given and what the likes of Joel had to say, but I certainly enjoyed tuning in before and after games and for the odd game I couldn't get to. Thanks Joel and it's a shame that scum like Neil Webb are able to waltz back into the spotlight and talk crap about a club they abandoned and showed a complete lack of respect for not so long ago at the expense of legends like Micky Gooding (legends who have an opinion worth listening to) and always led by example.
