Top 5 Loan Signings

by Y25 » 28 Nov 2006 13:37

I would expect a few loan signings in Jan so this got me thinking of players we have signed on loan in the past. Not sure if this one has been done before but my top 5 loan signings are ...

1. Marcus Hahneman (Fulham)
2. Matthew Upson (Arsenal)
3. Glen Little (Burnley)
4. David Lee (Chelsea)
5. Jim Leighton (Man Utd)

Other gooduns of note might be Stephen Morrow (Arsenal), Steve Archibald (ex Barcelona)

Who have I missed?

I thought Glen Little had little (no pun intended) impact when he was here on loan - I was actually disappointed following that period that we then signed him permanently. Yet again, my footballing nous is exposed as faux pais.

Best:

David Lee
Jim Leighton
Matt Upson
Steve Mautone (Unfortunately only when he was on loan)
Steve Morrow

Worst:

The legend that is Nigel Vaughan

I also think that Steve Archibald was unatached in his one appearance (vs Huddersfield Town, 1-0 Senior) rather than on loan

Tommy Wright was fantastic for us. What about Eric Nixon

Worst ones have to be Tony Thorpe, hyped up but did little along with Omar Daley.

Who was the keeper who just turned up with his boots at Leeds for the League Cup 1/4 final?

Kenny Brown just seemed to come & go as he pleased.

Some guy called Brook who played for Spurs in the 81 Cup Final? Gary Brook i think? We had him on loan in 1991 when he was fcking crap. Came with another laonee from Spurs called Matthew Edwards who was also fcking crap.
