A small computer company, I think.

comeonthebiscuitmen Where can I find a history of our shirt sponsors?

Is there a long lost thread on this?

has anyone ever had dealings with HAT painting?

At school I did a project on football sponsorship and met the MD of HAT painting as they were sponsoring RFC at the time. He was a nice chap and gave me a Reading v Po*ord program.

Dirk Gently I got it from the brilliant sports shop in Minster Street (forget the name) - now those were the days when sports shops sold proper sports stuff like tennis racquet's and croquet sets, not trainers and chavwear.

Blakes. I bought a couple of hockey sticks from there. Quality shop.

that's the one. We need more shops like that.

Billiant Shop, my mum would trapes us round Heelas then as a treat we would pop into Blakes. They used to have a great selection of socks if I remember.

comeonthebiscuitmen what about a retro shirts day?

whats the oldest shirt anyones still got?

replica kits didnt always exist i suppose - come on historians - when did they first come out in a big way?

I also have the Bhukta shirt from 1978, before the days of shirt sponsorship. IIRC, this was the first replica shirt you could buy.

In total, I have 14 of the different replica home shirts, 15 of the different replica away / 3rd shirts, and 1 prototype away shirt that was never actually put in production. I also have 25 other assorted replica shirts from foreign clubs / England shirts.

The home shirts missing from my collection are those which I have given away on various pre-season tours - which I now regret.

The 81-83 the Chronicle sponsor was in red. So that is incorrect.

I've got a player worn shirt from the early 70's. Not sure which player though.

Great site!

Interesting to note that of the current English teams that play in hoops - Reading, Darlington. Yeovil, Doncaster & QPR - we are the only club that originally started with hooped shirts. The True Hoops!

From a couple of years ago. Photo here

Pretty boring plain yellow with black side panels. Glad we never actually went for it.

You've listed all the sponsors I know of - surprisingly few.

Radio 210 caused a problem with authorities objecting to the numbers - said it would cause confusion to the refs!!

First replica kit I had was mid-late 70s white V neck long sleeve. Don't think replica kits at Reading kicked off in a big way until c1993 and the return of the hoops. Look at old videos of the 80s and there are few fans wearing them but McGhee's time they were everywhere.

I agree. That is my favourite too and I would like to see a return to the smaller hoops.

I have tried to pull all information together in one place at the following address:

http://www.squelchy.co.uk/reading_kits.html

Please let me know if I have got anything wrong.
