POLL: Does Seol give 100% every match he plays

by Top Flight » 14 Aug 2007 12:50

I wanna know what Reading fans think on this one........

Am I one of only a few people that doesn't think that Seol gives 100% everytime he turns out for the Royals.

People are suggesting that Seol always gives 100% effort but it just doesn't look like it. What kind of craziness is that?

A player is either busting his gut for the team or he is not.
He is either having a big effect on a game or he is not.

Personally, I don't think Seol gives 100% and consequently rarely effects a game in a postive way.

Simple question, is Seol giving 100% effort every time he goes out on to that pitch?

I am only starting this thread to add a poll function. Otherwise there are other threads debating the whole Seol issue.

Every game? Quite possibly no, but you could quite easily lay that criticism at the door of every player in our squad.

Can you tell me what the real definition of "100% effort" is? Does it mean charging into every 50/50 and tracking back everytime the ball goes into our half? I have a feeling the only players who fit the definition in our squad are Kitson and Hunt.

and one of them is suspended for 3 games so it's a great policy.

Maybe it's an education thing, he needs to be told to chase balls and advised on how to read the game better so he knows when to make a run or get into space.

I think he thinks he is as does any player, but he obviously never plays his best every game. He's always flashed in and out of games and probably always will.

Oh and another thing, maybe we should start a rumour about a big club watching him this season with a view to a multi million pound signing if he impresses.... might see his performances ramp up as a result

I think he does; but its all about perceptions isn't it?

People perceive that he doesn't.

Well I think Seol set a standard in terms of his performances at the start of last season. He had a number of great games in the first month and half of the season and played well and worked hard.

Since then there has been a very noticeable decline in his effectiveness and it seems to be because he is not working as hard as he did during August/September 2006.

Because I have seen what Seol can do, I am now concerned that he has stopped doing it.

Seol showed us how hard he can work and now he can't be bothered.

Seol has talent but talent on its own is not enough. When he worked hard in August/September last year, his talent had an effect and changed games.

But he hasn't worked hard since then. He hasn't earned the right to play and effect matches.

The thing there is no noticeable difference in the way he played at the start and since in terms of his style. It's exactly the same. The only difference is that for whatever reason things didn't come off for him toward the end of last season.

It's not a lack of effort.

If Sir Steve and the coaching staff think he is worth a place in the team / squad (and they wouldn't if they didn't think he was trying hard enough) then that is good enough for me.

I agree with those who have said that the whole debate is only because he started last season so well

He has more natural ability that most in the squad and I think people realise that and it causes such great frustration. On his day he's possible better than a fit Little. But we only saw that for a few months last season and then when Little came back and put him under pressure he just surrendered his position.

The Everton game is the time to judge Seoul, he'll get more time and space and will have no excuses.

It is fair to criticise the majority of his performances in a Reading shirt, because he's been that poor, buts let not write him off this season after one game.

It's probably best to just view Seol as the new Michael Meaker.

I think it helps.

I think we've already established the answer to this poll on various posts since December 2006.

I'm not gonna write him off.......

I would rather Seol plays like a £4 million pound right winger than force us to have to go out and spend that kind of money.

Sheff Wed would probably want something like £4 Million for somone like Chris Brunt.

Why go out and spend that when we know that Seol can be better than Brunt. We have the answer already. He just needs to start showing it on the pitch.

I voted yes, 50% effort in the first half and 50% effort in the second half.
