Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Of our 4 strikers Kitson is the one I'd be least disappointed to see leave. If we get decent money anyways.

A striker who doesn't get in the box is no good however nice his 1st touch is.

You could see Coppell and the coaches going mad at him numerous times last season. How many times did we get the ball into the box and Kitson is on the left wing, or the edge of the D?

I must admit, that drives me absolutely mad as well, especially as our two wingers were so crap that when they actually did put a half decent ball in there was no one near the box. It's funny because Kitson a few years ago was very much a poacher who scored mainly scrappy goals.

He's still a decent player, not a target man type of forward at all and I think we went majorly wrong last season by treating him as much. In fact I'd probably back Lita to win more in the air than Kitson in all honesty. If we got £3million for him, I'd probably take that. I can see Doyle moving on as well, he's at a good age and despite a poor goalscoring return last year, he's a good enough all round player to be playing in the Premiership. Doyle should still fetch in todays market between £4-6 million.

But this is little ol' Reading. If we were a Southampton or an Ipswich we might get that £4-6m, but we would probably see £3m. Just my opinion.

Well it's a daft one. Reading didn't sell Hunt yes HUNT for £5million, they would not sell Doyle for £3million.

It's a pity he didn't go mad at Hunt, Oster and Harper for being shit so that Kitson didn't have to try and do their job for them as he was getting no service. Give Kitson two decent wingers to feed off and some central midfield backing and he'll get back in the box and score goals again.

I suppose that's why teams with the above are after him.

A lot has changed in a matter of a few months though.

As for Kitson, he's always been more than your average centre forward but he has a tendency to go off the boil at times, usually when not trying to prove a point. Even when he first signed he would play a bit deep and go looking for the ball quite a bit, it's why he drew comparisons with Teddy Sheringham from a lot of people.

I think he's the centre forward we can least afford to lose because he is so different to the others and probably more difficult to replace.

cmonurz You'd sooner keep Long over Kitson?

Only cause we wouldn't get any money for Long.

Seriously, how did we not sign one striker in 3 years!!

Coppell lost the plot so much last season it is still mind boggling.

Because the back end of last season was the first time that the goals dried up for the 4 that we do have?

Well, not really. Long has never scored goals consistently ('impact sub' my arse), Lita scored once in his first 17 Premier League appearances up to Boxing Day before his little scoring run, and Kitson scored 3 in 15 games or so after coming back from injury in 06/07. The signs were there!

And to think that Behindu was predicting we'd have 3 forwards getting into double figures last season!!!

Reading striker Dave Kitson is a £2.5m target for Fulham. (Various)

Can someone explain the valued quoted in the recent rumour pages to me:

Peter Crouch 5 PL goals last season - worth £15M
Darren Bent - sores 6 PL league goals - worth 9M
Andy Johnson scores 6 PL league goals worth 8M

Dave Kitson scores 10 PL goals for a struggling side - worth 2.5M ???????

If we sell DK for 2.5M even I will be struggling to find any enthusiasm to attend matches next season.

ill be gutted, and very worried about us if kits goes

but seriously-if shorey and harper and hunt are worth 3-5 million each
then why would we even think of selling the bloke who has consistently been our top scorer since he got here for less than those other players?

Kitson is our best player who plays up front. He's not necessarily our best striker but in terms of creativity, vision and linking play he is the best.

I don't get the Lita love when he's far more hit and miss, far more prone to random bad games when Kitson tends to contribute even if not in the box. With 10 goals, he scored more than Lita did in his 'fantastic' first season (where 6 of his 7 league goals came in a much-needed flurry from January to err February. He didn't score a league goal after his Man City double on the 3rd of Feb :| )

Better than 2.5 million, but I'd still want to keep him.

And again,

Fulham have stepped up their interest in signing Reading's Dave Kitson after striker Diomansy Kamara's long-term injury setback. (The Sun)

Weren't some posters suggesting that all three/four strikers would get into double figures, last summer?

Lita got one and we were happy with that!

If we sell Kitson for less than Hunt then we need shooting.
