I do wonder where Noel is going to fit into BR's system though. He's not a lone striker, but I'd worry if I saw him on the wing instead of Kanu or Henry.

Ran out when I tried to get one

Forgot to mention, for someone who retired injured, Polston looked pretty good at right back. Certainly coped better with Bignall than Murty did at times. And nice to see Igoe still have a good boot on him.

He played a fair bit of RW in Scotland and came on in that position at least once for us.

I think he'd be excellent wide right in a 4-3-3 as he is tenacious, a natural goal-scorer, but I can't see him as the central target man, if we play one.

apparently Doyler got there too late and may have not had clearance from Wolves, but from reading the programme it sounded like he did

Davies goal was good. Thought the front 3 for new Reading first half looked very good against an experienced back 4.

Best Wishes Murts

Not in the east stand. They never bothered cooking them.

Matejovsky won at least four tackles and looked a lot happier tonight.

As someone who spent almost 2 hours before the game in the company of Murts and his mobile, let me put a few "facts" to bed - Doyle had a scan this morning for a hernia and was not allowed to play, Simon Cox was refused permission by West Brom, Nicky Forster was down to play, but had a calf problem, James Harper has a groin problem, Marcus was only given permission to play for 10 minutes (but did over 20), Scott Murray pulled out 2 hours before the game and Dan Harding was also due to appear, but dropped out at the last minute. Sammy Igoe, however, was a last minute addition...as was Tom Hateley, son of Tony, who Murts collared in the hotel bar to make up numbers due to the drop-offs...

Its the caterers pre-season too.

Since the change of management, key serving hatch assistants have not had their contracts renewed despite years of sterling service, which included a "pie and a pint for a fiver" promotion back in 2005/2006 and a nearly full pint poured in 2008/2009.

Nick Hammond has since been delighted with the speed of the young coffee vendors still on the national minimum wage, and has offered them 3 year contracts allowing them free entry to any Reading game played on a Thursday morning.

You are Graeme Murty and ICMFP.

Having established this, 2 questions

1. Did you enjoy tonight?

2. Have you got a club for this season?

Good night had by all, but disappointing crowd. Actually no, embarrassing. I thought 15,000 would be poor, but about right considering the financial state currently, but 7,500 is pretty awful.

Where was Kitson then ? Is he that hated, even Murty didn't want him to play.
