Unless of course you lose them, that can be bloody embarassing.

Wouldn't it be funny if Birmingham were to lose both their games against 2nd division Austrians... wait, oh dear they have!

It's never worried me if my side loses the odd friendly they "shouldn't"
as long as "overall" things look OK

But (say) losing a couple of four-nils to poor teams would worry me (as should Orient 6-1 Newcastle worry them

A dumb 1-0 or even, maybe the odd 2-0, but a thrashing that has to concern any club. It suggests a lack of pride/team-spirit

What are our results so far

5-1
1-2
8-0
4-0

I'm sure 18-3 will make the players feel pretty fine, whatever the opposition.

Even a narrow defeat in the last Swedish game and nothing worse than 0-2 v Chelsea and we''ll be very confident come the first game

I hope we can beat Forest. Have to say though that they are my dark horses this year (good manager) and were BEFORE they bought have the spare footballers in the country

The opposition may not be the best but getting into a winning streak is all important at this stage. In the 2008 pre-season - apart from the 9-0 drubbing of Didcot - Reading never really reached the heights and the three Swedish games resulted in an overall 8-2 scoreline (4-1, 1-0 and 3-1). We look a lot better so far this year. Time will tell if this converts into form come 8th August but everything looks promising to me.
