I have to think, Handbags, that your prejudice means you are just completely misreading what he is saying there. Because I see nothing wrong with that sentence.

In context : -

"If you are brave enough to play you can get results. The easiest thing to do is kick the ball up the field and I've been involved in games like that.

"It gets cleared upfield, goes out for a throw-in in the final third and everyone pushes up towards the corners. That's not football, it's rugby.

"If people want to watch that - fine. But I don't want to watch that and I don't want our supporters to see that.

"That's why I will stick by my principles. We will get there in the end when we have got players with the correct DNA."

And he added: "People say there's a certain way to win in the Championship, which is fine. But it doesn't matter how you win games.

"All the stats show that teams at the top of the table are the best teams with the ball. They're getting less shots on goal but more on target. Maybe they're playing less forward passes because they're retaining the ball.

He's just saying that he's not going to sacrifice his principles to win games, if other managers want to play rugby it's up to them but the stats prove his way is possible if you have the right players.

We'll see if that's true.

handbags_harris A brilliant interview here complete with oodles of material for this very thread: http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport ... rinciples/

Brendan Rodgers If people want to watch that - fine. But I don't want to watch that and I don't want our supporters to see that.

Closely followed by:

Brendan Rodgers People say there's a certain way to win in the Championship, which is fine. But it doesn't matter how you win games.

So which is it then mate? Make your mind up.

Also, he seems to have ditched the "I'm mates with Mourinho" line. He's now mates with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer :lol:

Brendan Rodgers I also have a relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and people at Manchester United.

And lastly, more DNA bollocks:

Brendan Rodgers We will get there in the end when we have got players with the correct DNA.

and there was me thinking DNA was unique, yet Rodgers states the plural !!!

I don't know if this has been covered already but I see that on the OS Buck's saying,'Three points against Blackpool pushes us right up the league'??????

I mean there's blind optimism and looking at the wrong table. 3 points could potentially, with other results going our way, move us up three places. Ah well if that's right up the league in Buck's eyes by the time we reach mid table we could well be on the cusp of auto promotion.

Our Esteemed leader talks X factor and manages to drop a few soundbites in.

Rodgers said: “I like his new haircut, I might need to get my head shaved now. Danyl performed fantastically on Saturday and I think he is a great role model for the kids.

“He is a big, big talent and although he has faced criticism recently he has come through it.

“Everyone in Reading hopes he does very, very well and we would like to get him down here when he’s free.”

Although Brendan Rodgers admits he would be no good in the singing competition, he’d like a kickabout with the Arborfield lad who plays for a five-a-side team in goal on a Sunday.

He'd probably be better than you at football management as well Brendan tbh.

handbags_harris Poster in the dressing room (photographic evidence on Compo's Hat's Facebook):

"What winners do:

* Up the tempo
* World class basics
* Pride in the badge
* Ruthless simplicity
* Critical non-essentials
* Everything beats deadline
* Good enough - isn't
* Never leave the game early (start quick, finish strong)"

Just ALOL :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Think Buck should spend more time working out a winning formula for team than become another Louis Walsh (aka useless tosser)

Quoting what he says about an awful talent(less) show is more about making fun of him and the people (including myself) who judge him on interviews than being upset about it.
