I do remember BR saying he would take the FA cup seriously.

Whether he sticks to that is another question..

Negative_Jeff How long is it since we fielded a full strength team in the FA Cup?

I would have a go at Leicester in 2005.

Schards#2 If the club took the competition seriously, i'd be quite excited by this.

They don't.

They will this year - it was more that SSC didn't take it seriously.

BR is a firm believer in the momentum that a decent cup run gives.

Negative_Jeff Why is the FA Cup and the Carling Cup drawn out of a hat and The Champions League and World Cup drawn out of a pot?
How does Compo know that we are Ball 32?

I think the FA Cup comes out of a large see through pot these days when emptied out of the bag.

The top two tier’s are numbered from 1 to 44 alphabetically when entering the 3rd round draw (so Arsenal are 1). After that your ball in the following round is the game you were drawn in previously, so if our game came out first then we’d be ball 1 (providing we got through) in the 4th round just like we’d be ball 32 if our tie came out last if that makes sense.

I thought a London cabby would have known that

The FA cup draw hasn't been the same since Bert Millichip drew the balls out of the velvet navy blue bag. He usually did the home teams and some old pro like Peter shilton would draw the away.

And who used to do the intro? - the old FA executive - cant rememeber his name.... Kelly?

[quote="Negative_Jeff"]Was the cup draw not more fun with a tranny behind the bike sheds at school on a monday lunchtime?

Blimey, we just used to smoke - how times have changed!

would like

Home tie against a premiership side - Tottenham would be interesting, as would Portsmouth
Swindon, Oxford, Aldershot obviously
Leeds (mate supports them), Southampton, Forest (mate supports them, more chances to beat them the better)
Wouldn't mind a team in Birmingham, closest premiership sides to my Uni in Aber
That said, Cardiff or Swansea I could go to.

I've a feeling if we've pulled away from the bottom a bit we may take it seriously for once.

The reason we normally get a championship side is because the odds are higher than a team from another other league!

If Cambridge Utd, Histon, Norwich or Luton are left in, I'd like one of them away.

There is only one tie that a real Reading fan hopes for, and that is Aldershot, preferably at home. Any one that argues this must still be a bit wet behind the ears.

Wouldn't mind Millwall at home or away should they prevail against Staines.

Or a non league team away.
