Gylfi or Feds?

by Dirk Gently » 13 Apr 2010 08:44

This is entirely hypothetical, but if we had to lose one player at the end of the season to balance the books, and the only two worth enough money to do that were Gylfi and Feds, who would you rather lose, and why?

Feds because there are other 'keepers that can do just as well, if not better than him.

Gylfi is one of a kind for a club like us and at such a young age as well!

Marek, so we can keep both the other two! (there's always one isn't there)

Feds isn't that great to be fair. He's done ok, but he is replaceable.

Gylfi would be a massive loss, and with our budget, possibly impossible to replace with someone of equal quality.

Would have been even more convincing if I hadn't confused my double negatives!

£2-3m for Gylfi is a fair price.

£2-3m for Fedders, good as he is, is daylight robbery.

Combine that with 3 quality and rated young 'keepers in the wings and 'keepers in general being cheaper to replace and it really is a no brainer.

Without doubt Gylfi, although I think Federici gets a lot of unwarranted criticism. I think he's been superb in his first full season, and I would be very disappointed if he left.

Goals are precious and you need 'em to win games, and you can always go out, search the world and find (for not a lot of money) a guy who gets to use his hands

Both would be valued at differently, Gylfi must be worth 2 or 3 times more than Federici.

If equal offers came in for both and one had to be accepted then I'd let Federici go because he's worth less. However, If no cash was available for replacements then losing a good keeper could ruin our season.

One is miserable, surly and shaped like an egg.
The other is a star and as versatile as an egg.

Easy.

I think everyone would half a brian cell can see that we would all be not much happier for Feds to not be unsold as Gylfi is les of an unbad player who we shouldn't not try to keep from not selling if the offer doesn't come in.
