When the read the Evening Post my maths went askew and I thought that more than a million for the Georgian was too much. Now ive got my head straight and see its only hundreds of thousands im quite surprised that we havent gome for it.When was the last time a sub 1 million player was too expensive, even Brian Howard was 500k!

How do you know we aren't. We know from past experience that Hammond negotiates very hard on transfer fees (remember Tommy Smith???) so we say to the press that we are being priced out in an attempt to get them to lower the asking price a bit. It's all part of the negotiation........we may still not get an agreement at the end of it but why should we just give in to their demands?

Should be, but you can expect some idiot to post a similar sort of thread next week.

That's how i saw the article too.

The player has already stated that he's interested to come back. Blackburn (i think) have pretty much said he's not in their plans. We say that we're being priced out. If the player really does want to come to RFC then his agent and Hammond will try to negotiate with Blackburn further to make the deal more realistic.

He'll be in the higher-earners bracket for sure, so i can understand us trying to drive down any fee we need to pay.

leww_rfc 1 year contract extension on his 2. HTH.

It is actually a new contract with massively increased wages and in all probability a release clause (at around £5m) - not just a simple contract extension.

That was my thinking WR, and all the news of the deal has tended to phrase it as a new 3 year deal as opposed to extending his contract by another year.
