Forbury Lion Best youth player to break into the first team and play for Reading - Probably one from Adie Williams, Gylfi Siguardsson, Neil Webb.

There have been some good discoveries, non youth.... Kevin Doyle, Shakka Hislop.

Sun Tzu
FiNeRaIn Went to my school and can confirm we missed him, failed a trial at Reading first.

If he didn;t perform then not sure why we would have signed him !

LOL, a classic best-effort-yet from the spin-meister general; RFC didn't acually miss out on Berkshire-boy and multi-million pound international winger Walcott, he simply just wasn't good enough for us <sniff>.

Hoop Blah Any list of other local lads we didn't get to Reading for one reason or another would have to include Hayden Mullins who I thinks been a very decent player.

Had Giles Barnes in my class at school in Reading, though at the time he was at Chelsea.

Poor retort from the self proclaimed cynical comic !!

It wasn't me who said he failed a trial.....

LOL at Floyd and his twisting of simple comment !!!!

Would have to be Webb you'd think, I can't think of many of our academy products who have gone on to reach England level.

In terms of developing talent though you could argue that the likes of Shaka and Nicky Shorey developed their skills whilst at the club.

If they live up to the hype then we could be looking back in 5 or 10 years time saying its Jordan Obita or Connor Wickham

Was at the Reading academy very early (think until 10-11) until his parents relocated to a different part of the country. The link/story was on here somewhere on here a few months ago if anyone can remember where it is.

No. When we were at Reading, we signed a new contract every year, and if a club were to snatch us or whatever, compensation would have to be paid. Connor left at the end of his contract, so nothing needs to be paid.

The guys a ledge.

Remember watching a youth game many years ago - He was proper lightweight. Gutted cos he was an ex-Piggott boy so I kind of wanted him to be good. He got ripped to shreds at half time by the coach.
